That 1-6 loss to Liverpool at home in the cup was a superb example of that solid backline...

Martinez saw 9 fly past him at Wigan, Fergie saw city put 6 past his Utd side every team has blips.

End of the day if Kenwright flogged Lukaku, Barkley, Deloufou, Stones, McCarthy and Coleman from under us in 2 seasons yet martinez kept us fighting for top 6 imagine the shaft tugging going on from his fans on here. Roberto would be Shankly mrkII.

Very underrated manager, just won back to back games 2-0/3-0 don't think we'll see that anytime soon.

Threads like this seem to hint at Martinez being some tactical genius that we could never hope to do better than.

The fact is that right now replacing Martinez would be a lot easier than replacing Moyes ever was.

There's a reason theres no serious suggestions about who could better replace Martinez: none that we could attract could do it better...oh, and because most see we have the right man now.

If Martinez had overseen Liverpool put 6 past his team at Goodison you'd be marching down with a pitchfork!

He has won 2 back to back games (West Brom and Watford) but lost 3 on the bounce before that when including the FA cup game (Crystal Palace, Norwich and West Ham).

I like Koeman, that 4-0 victory over Arsenal was sweet, but not sure it quite calls for the bunting when they are 1 point above us. Your point about him being able to deal with a lot of players sold out from under him is valid but tbh would prefer it we didn't have to deal with that situation happening anyway - prefer a manager who tries to keep the squad together and convinces his board accordingly.

People's belief in Martinez being the right man is based on us having an exciting squad of players.

If we're basing it on results then there's not much to back that up.
