Tim Howard

One big reason Howard had a good game was that City simply don't put in many crosses.

Actually they put in loads of crosses, particularly Clichy, Navas & De Bruyne. Granted they weren't all dangerous and we blocked loads before they came in but I don't think that's why Howard had a good game.

I think it's because City didn't have anyone challenging Howard when they did come in. Aguero isn't a big target man and Toure (who very nearly scored from a cross) seemed to hang back about the 18 yard line instead of right on Howard's toes.

If they still had Dzeko, or perhaps even Bony, to jump against Howard when the crosses came in, I think it would have been a very different match.

That being said, Howard did very well stopping any shots that came his way.

Yes I agree with that , but as someone else has posted lets see how Tim copes with Costa who is a brute of a player!

Not sure if it's just me and I may well cop a load of flack for this? Yes Tim Howard had a better game last night, but the reality of it is that every save he made was a save that any decent keeper, and by the way the vast majority of the keepers in the Premier League would and should have made! Some on here saying he had a great game are saying that purely because they are comparing it with some of the nervy flappy dross we have far too often been served up with over the last 18 months or so! He is and has always been a decent shot stopper as he was last night, so I'll wait and see how he deals with a certain Mr Costa invading his space when the ball is in the air in the six yard box from free kicks and corners on Saturday before jumping on the Tim's back bandwagon!
