Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Sure, if we sign a keeper now, I wouldn't be surprised if some MLS club comes in for Howard in February. People were saying we wouldn't sign a new keeper now unless Howard leaves, though, and we can't know if that's going to happen (at least to MLS) until February. It's kind of a Catch-22. If MLS transfer rules weren't so strange, it would be fine, but it's a whole complicated process of the league creating an allocation list and then going through a list of clubs to see who wants to pay it, and then some weirdness with a lottery. It's bizarre, leave it at that.
Ah yeah, fair's fair. I misunderstood slightly then, my bad.

Agreed with the Catch 22 anyway, but it's not really weird per se, they just play in a different time-frame lol

No, if it was just a different time frame it would probably be fine -- Brazil and Russia don't seem to have too many problems even with their different time frames. It's more than that with MLS -- all transfers actually go through the league first, not the individual clubs, and that makes things really complicated.

Everton have made a late bid to beat Leicester to Demarai Gray.

The Toffees have watched the youngster extensively during the past 12 months and are ready to meet the £3.7million asking price for Birmingham City’s youngster.

Roberto Martinez’s scouts have given glowing reports of the forward’s progress at St Andrew’s and the two interested clubs are now scrapping it out for his services.

Gray, who was recently called into Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 squad, was happy to remain at his home-town club and add to his development by playing games in the Championship.

CAN play for Toffee: Martinez's scouts have been gushing about the 19-year-old

But it now appears that he has decided the time is right to move on.

Liverpool, who did have first call on his services, do not appear to be interested in taking up the option.

Leicester appeared to have stolen a march on the competition and Gray could continue to live at home and commute to the East Midlands side – but Martinez is not out of the running.
