MLS transfer window doesn't open until the middle of February.Thing is it would make sense for Howard to leave this window since it's preseason in America. I'm assuming someone over there would want him in their team, even just for marketing reasons.
I agree with you though, it feels like nothing is going to happen and we'll have to put up with him starting until summer at least.

It isnt.
It swings open tomorrow. Then slams shut a few weeks later.
I think.
Just checked this who is Boyko?
Just done a quick google... He's a keeper - sign him immediately.
He can still leave then, can't he?MLS transfer window doesn't open until the middle of February.
An MLS team can only sign him in February, and because MLS transfer rules are so bizarre, I don't think they can just arrange a transfer now and wait for it to go into effect in February the way we just did with Foulds. He can still leave then, can't he?
I've always thought that international transfers mattered only to the league's transfer window and rules, e.g. us signing Donovan in January, Mori mid-nothing time in Argentina season terms?
Well then arrange it in February ffs (PLEASE). Foulds was different because he's a youth team player and you'd think tribunal and Bosman and all that makes it slightly different, but probably available to arrange beforehand. We also signed Garbutt the same way ages ago I think, when he was 15 or 16.An MLS team can only sign him in February, and because MLS transfer rules are so bizarre, I don't think they can just arrange a transfer now and wait for it to go into effect in February the way we just did with Foulds.

Sure, if we sign a keeper now, I wouldn't be surprised if some MLS club comes in for Howard in February. People were saying we wouldn't sign a new keeper now unless Howard leaves, though, and we can't know if that's going to happen (at least to MLS) until February. It's kind of a Catch-22. If MLS transfer rules weren't so strange, it would be fine, but it's a whole complicated process of the league creating an allocation list and then going through a list of clubs to see who wants to pay it, and then some weirdness with a lottery. It's bizarre, leave it at that.Well then arrange it in February ffs (PLEASE). I meant if it's the transfer window in the MLS, it shouldn't matter that much if it's the transfer window in England, he should still be able to sign... right?
