Roberto Martinez discussion

Stoke are 9th mate.

Lets not pretend hes got them challenging Barca for the CL.

I'm not the one pretending we play the best football in the league. Think what Pulis left Hughes and where they are now, then compare to what Moyes left Martinez and where we are now. Do I want Hughes as manager? No. Is it unfair to deride him as a rubbish manager as some have? Yes.

Stoke's first was dinosaur football by Hughes, all that interplay between a fluid front three was disgusting to watch. He should be more like the entertainers, Cleverley's 50 yard hoof to Lukaku, football gold that all the neutrals are undoubtedly slobbering over without a thought of our relatively poor league position.
He's a dire manager you know, doesn't really say a lot for our manager does it baring in mind only once in his PL career has he finished above him.

:coffee:

That right? Well not to go off topic but it was only the fact out of nowhere about a week ago yet again you gave me a mention, you even tagged me this time TBF, point being you talking about me 'thinking about you'

That's what reminded me, it was fitting Stoke were coming up to beat us for the 3rd time running.

What's that saying about stones and glass houses.

Good attempt though.

Haha, I've called you a fraud, if that's what you're alluding to....

Didn't you hate Moyes?

Couldn't be arsed with his his hoofball? Didn't you ever say anything like that? And now you want Mark Hughes?

Errr, did I call you a fraud? Is that what I'm alluding to?

A win against Spurs and the talk turns to European football again.

It's that fickle. Everyone here knows it too. Who could take all this seriously? Certainly not those with power over the situation. It doesn't even register with them.

Roberto is the manager. He'll remain our manager for a long time to come. It must be exhausting and frustrating for those wishing it wasn't so, but that's the way it is. I say that with no relish, btw. I actually feel a bit sorry for people who seem devoted to bringing about another reality. It's not happening and they're ruining themselves over it. Just take a deep breath and stop torturing yourselves. It's not worth it.

Anyhow, over and out....

You're right, but I can't help but feel spurs are the last side I'd like to face with our current organisational deficiencies. Play like yesterday, and we are absolutely cut apart. We need a proper gameplan. Big test for the manager.

Said with no irony I assume.

Could you tell me the reasoning behind the Moyes/Hughes comparison please. Not being sarcastic, but the last thing I thought when I saw that first goal on sat, created by 3 relatively small players, the incisive pass played by Bojan (who was playing as a 'false 9'') was that's Moyes type football that.

Where is the comparison?

2-3 talented players surrounded by workhorses and grocks. Yeah those 3 play some nice stuff together but overall not a very sophisticated approach.

Fair enough, only adds to the fact he isn't a 'dire' manager, just a stupid comment.

He's not great though, let's be honest. The calls for Hughes are born directly from the frustration fans are feeling from what are rightfully perceived as clumsily dropped points. The fact is, Stoke have comparable talent to ours and are more or less in the exact same situation this season. Mid table with a LC semi final coming up. Hughes is no better than Martinez by any measure.

Yeah, whatever SATAN!

Honestly lads, the only manager that would come to us and would be a convincing replacement for Martinez would be Lucien Favre. We were linked with him before, and he is the only one who would be an improvement on him. Anyone else, and we might as well keep Bobby because he is building something special it's quite easy to see.
