Roberto Martinez discussion

I don't think anyone thinks we can't do better than Martinez Ian...of course we can. However, he's our manager and whilst he is it's better to back him than rip him apart at every opportunity. I don't see anyone really suggesting that we should keep Martinez so we don't have Moyes back, and I don't see anyone suggesting it would be a return to Moyes type football if Martinez went other than a few who are on the wind-up most of the time.
I hope Martinez gets it right, and for what it's worth I think he will, and I genuinely hope he gets a balance between entertainment and points so the likes of you can get back to GP and enjoy watching Everton again...the more happy blues there the better.
That's a nice post. TBF I sometimes lose the train of thought on keeping my posts well presented. In the main I have referred to stats as the basis for my posts an if they are read as me ripping him apart I always feel at least I'm dealing in Facts as appose opinions. If the facts I'm presenting are seen as me ripping him, well that's the stats speaking for themselves.

There are very few stats that back him up, maybe only goals scored. The rest is all opinion that is used to support him.

To me its as quiet as i have known it now.
I suppose having flappy in goal scares the fans
I think Flappy scares the pants off every single one of us to be fair. Saw a great vine on Twitter of Flappy but don't know how to embed it on here...shame as it's genius.

TBH went to a few games 13/14 when we played winning football, last season ended me with him. But like many I'm fickle if we turn a massive corner or even perform what looks like a U-turn I'll be happy, not happening though as things stand.
Just the type of fans we need
If you choose not to go because of your dislike of the manager, your comments and views become null and void. As surely you only have one agenda and that is for him to be sacked

I always thought you support a team through thick and thin, maybe I am completely wrong.

Jeez I am 52 and I have seen some dross in my time, but never stopped me going as this is who I support

Not a super fan, just a Everton Supporter

I'm "dumb" yet you are actually claiming Moyes left a amazing squad for Martinez?

Where are these super duper squad players now???

GK- Mucha?.....useless
LB - Oviedo....perma crocked
LCB - Duffy....championship
RCB- Heitinga...cant get a game for ajax
RB-Hibbert.....finished
DM-Gibson....injury prone
CM-Osman....finished (1st choice then)
LM-Pienaar.....finished (1st choice then)
RM-Mirallas..poor this season (1st choice then)
CF- Jelavic......cant get a game for Wham
CF-Anichebe...cant get a game for wba

Absolutely amazing "top hungry players" those, could tell moyes was building for the future there...

Ive even left out such class as Distin whose finished and Naismith and the great backup defenders, playmakers and backup keeper he left Martinez with.

The REALITY is that he left Martinez with a shocking ageing squad which Martinez is improving window to window.

But hey, the truth doesnt fit your agenda.

Ha ha, the one eyed man is king in the kingdom of the blind. Amazingly biased view of Moyes' final squad. Not even the usual subjective ramblings discrediting certain players, no there's even players missed off the list. Incredible what such a poor manager did with such an abysmal squad that season.

He left him a squad that finished in the Top 6 the previous season.

And yet Moyes managed to get much more out of that squad than Martinez can get out of this extremely talented squad we have now. Go figure.

The possibility of sacking him is remote, the question is, can he change and learn from here? A manager who had been haunted by relegation would naturally look himself in the mirror and reflect on his defensive short coming, but are we seeing that?

Or is he blinded by his own philosophy and believes that having more defensive discipline will hinder his attacking approach?

I've said it before, seven years of management and still facing the same chronic defensive problem, how much faith do I have for him to improve in the next 7 games? Or the 7 games after the next seven?

You know I just realised Stoke hadn't conceded a single goal prior to the match when Ryan Shawcross had been on the pitch

The fact that we score three, and then lose, is so Everton it's almost Newcastle

Off the top of my head: Jagielka Stones Baines Coleman Distin Oviedo Barkley Mirallas Naismith Fellaini. Yep, absolute rubbish inheritance, 3/4 of an England back 4, best full backs in the league, best young midfielder in England, 27 mill rated Belgian international, two attacking players capable of double figures. Absolute rubbish the lot of them (amazing how many he's kept around really)

The truth obviously doesn't fit your agenda either reading this

Whose fault is the goalkeeping situation Dave and who persists with not fixing the problem?

That falls directly at Martinez's door and we are not going anywhere without that getting addressed. So for all that Martinez has got right and all the positives we can talk about, he has such a glaring weakness that for me overshadows all of that because he simply can't either a) set up a team to win games consistently or b) has an issue with choosing the wrong personel.

There's no way Dave even you at the end of the season would surely accept if we finish 10th-14th with a striker whose just banged in 20+ goals and say that is acceptable because that's why we are likely to finish.

Lovely free flowing football only works of you have the results to back them up. Let's be honest when we went 3-2 yesterday did you think "that's us sorted for the win now"? I don't and I don't think anyone else did, we looked naive and it was pathetic tbh that no direction from the manager was given to sit deep, make the last defensive sub and then try and hit them on the counter.

There's just no thought within that squad or management to just dig deep and sit on a win, christ we couldn't hold out for 20 seconds against Bournemouth so there was no chance they were going to do it for 20 minutes without some kind of change being made.

18 months now mate and counting of piss poor results. How much longer does he get in your opinion as last Christmas we all said we'll he should be given until this Christmas to see how he's done. Would you give him this season plus all of next?

I would give him all of this and next if I saw signs of progression collectively as a team but all I see are a gang of players running forward like 6 year olds chasing a ball with no regard for any defensive duties and us getting caught out time after time and then when it does come to the last line of defence ( Howard ), well the less I mention about him the better I think.
I don't see it as 18 months of piss poor results. I see it as two and half years of moving from a boring, non-successful brand of archaic route one football to another more fluent and exciting brand of football capable of getting us silverware. You can't expect everything to work like clockwork all the time. There's going to be backward steps as well as great football and results to match it. Personally I wouldn't swap this style we have for a few more points if it meant we curb our flair on the pitch. Btw. I agree that Howard is martinez's problem and he needs to sort him out.

But I feel - and I'm sure all others who wanted Martinez as manager feel the same way - 100% vndicated by what's happened so far. We are miles better as a football team. I feel proud for the first time in years to be able to know that our team takes to the pitch and every neutral in the country knows what a breathtaking team we can be and that the football they'll watch is going to be a massive spectacle.

He's been here hardly any time at all and he's done that. It's an amazing turnaround from the dullard win nothing team we were under Moyes and when this GK is replaced we can only go in knee direction.

Keep the faith....you can be sure the owners whomever they are will. He's as safe as housed in this post.
