Ok, now this is something I just don't understand.

Roman Polanski lost his mum in Auschwitz
Roman Polanski had his pregnant wife murdered by the Mansons

however...

Roman Polanski disturbingly raped a 13 year old girl, so he is a paedophile.

People are petitioning to have this man released because he has suffered enough in his life.

What the ****???
 

Some comments:

In most countries not even murderers can be prosecuted after more than 30 years. This was 31 years ago and was consensual sex. This is ridiculous.

I don't get it, why now? Has he violated his initial sentence or was he set free? And I wonder who has asked for his arrest now, the victim?

The background to this case is well documented. The victim has received her settlement. There is no justification for Polanksi - one of the greatest film directors of our time - to be treated in this manner. Let him go!

In consideration of the victim's family, now long grown up and quite possibly because Polanski himself regrets this 31 year old incident, I say let the charges drop.

Then why post then?

He's a French/Polish film director. He raped a 13yr old girl. His wife was murdered by the Mansons, his mum died in Auschwitz. He lives in Switzerland but has now been arrested on a warrant out since the 70s.

PC tits are saying he should be released.

So what they are saying is if anyone has suffered in their lives, let them go free? :blink: Aren't 90% (dont know the exact figures) of Paedophiles victims themselves? So should we let them all go free?

There was once a bad kiddy fiddler who used to stay nearby when in town. I, like all my friends would have crippled him for life given the chance, everyone knew what he was up to but nothing was ever pinned on him. It crept me out that a weirdo like him could get away with molesting children and nothing was ever done. Anyway, he died recently and rather than celebrating his death, millions of people worldwide mourned his loss and he received a massive state funeral.

I guess what the public are trying to say is when you are a wealthy public figure with a few mental issues it's okay to have sex with children, it's justified by the fact you had a tough time growing up, regardless of the law and morality or how much it affects the children involved.
 
From what I know, he didnt rape the girl, it was consensual but she was underage.

A documentary came out saying he was all set to go to trial but back in the day all the judges and police wanted a bit of fame and sold the story etc. He did a few days in prison before being released on bail. Then he fled the country.

The girl in question later forgave him, went into hiding because he hated talking about it all the time, said she "loved" him and dropped the charges but the warrant is still out because he left the country.

Ever since then he's worked in Europe, won the academy award for best director for The Pianist a few years back, and popped up in a few movies, most notably Rush Hour 3.

Not condoning what he did, but that's the story anyway.
