Roberto Martinez discussion

Leicester & Spurs are top, Palace are 5th....this is the poorest the premier league has been, and we're 11th (and conceeding bags of goals)....we probably have the best striker in the league too...

I've waited my time to judge Martinez (never called for his head last season)...but it's just getting ridiculous now...it's shocking how poorly we are set up defensively, he clearly has no clue how to defend (and his transfer activity in this area has been dire....no replacement for Howard last summer, only Mori brought in at centre back even though distin & alcaraz were leaving)....with the run of games coming up now I can only see things getting worse...

If we have any ambition as a club, than 11th place is not acceptable...

Martinez has done nothing in his time here to suggest he is capable of relegating us

What would 'doing something to suggest he is capable' look like in practical terms? More than a few right-minded Blues (not the sort who write boring and unfunny match previews) were nervous in Feb/March last season. That's quite late in a season. These things can spiral away from you very quickly with a bad defence.

I'm keen on Martinez staying, and I like him. But we have to beware of him not improving during his time here.

People who don't like Martinez can't celebrate when we win both cups this season.

Not that they would anyway. They'd be moaning that McGeady didn't get on.

Look, there's not a chance of a change of manager and here's why:

Outside of a few hundred frustrated and motivated everton supporters there is ABSOLUTELY no
interest in the media or ownership to turn on a manager creating football like we're getting out of Everton. It's just not an issue. You may think it is but it's not. Every right minded and cool headed person sees the progress in playing style and will just insist in the defence getting sorted.

Deep down even those for some reason hopeful of a change know this to be true.
Few hundred :coffee:, but I agree about THIS ownership.

11th place isn't acceptable. But the season didn't end today.

He changed things up and produced results last March to keep us well clear of the drop in the end.

Don't get me wrong last January/February was terrible but he did what he had to do to get us away from the bottom

We're a mid-table side to the media.

Few weeks back when we played Palace we were a win away from sitting 5th. Not one media outlet touted or has touted us as top 4 candidates. With the league wide open as this, we're forgotten about.

So there's no media charge for us, only players who will leave and when.

We won't get rid of the manager and that's down to having zero aspirations that you've said the board never have.

If we can't get into the top 4 this season, when will it happen?
