Roberto Martinez discussion

The level of RAWKism on here is superb. The ability to call someone a geordie while acting like a flag waving kopite is quite frankly bizarre, the praise that Martinz has received over the last 1 hour is remarkable, almost reminisce of our loveable neighbours and they're cultish behaviour towards Rodgers, "How am I doin’ boss?"

A fanatical critic of Martinez I was last year, the dull dire predicable football was enough to force one to seriously look at that bottle of domestos. I hold no grudge to level of criticism I levied towards our lovable Latino, and the start of the new season as seen a dramatic improvement in our ability to score, attacking with ease knowing that we will score.

However the elephant in the room is still sitting there, and it’s our inability to be able to defend, a notion that was so evident last year and coupled with the stagnant movement up top almost forced us into a situation we hadn’t seen in years.

We are culpable at every opportunity an opposition attacks us, not at one point, whilst 3-2 up, did I think we had the ability to see this through without conceding again, and low and behold we conceded 2. A shambles of a defence that is going to rail road our season once again, and yet the manager is still convinced that playing a certain way is more important than gaining points, because if all players are pulling in the same direction then its only inventible that the results will follow.

The notion from some “fans” that these marvellous young players will learn, and once this magical occurrence happens world domination will be ours. Utter bollox gents, we live in a world where money talks and as soon as, even if not before, these players gain maturity and become invisibles then you’ll see them on Sky Sports holding aloft their new Barcelona/Chelsea/United/Munich shirt followed by statement thanking Everton FC for some fabulous years.

Then we are back to square one, another “potential” group of youngsters who we are all jizzing over, making the same mistakes followed by the same arguments on here about the golden generation.

Roberto Martinez needs to realise that this is Everton, not Wigan, conceding 7 goals in 2 home games to Stoke and Leicester is not acceptable, even in our darkest days it is not acceptable and to save himself from a torrent of abuse, which brewing once again, he needs to bite the bullet and sort this shambles out.

Am I happy with how we are generally playing yes; he has showed that he can vary the play and even teams who sit deep can now be picked apart and we can score freely.

Am I happy with how we defend; no. It’s been 18 months of the same mistakes, the same ideology and the utter fragile, “shattered glass” like back 4 we have.
Still, at least it's not as kopite or RAWK as replying with seven paragraphs is it Chris?

We're in decent shape. Feel frustrated? So do I. Feel like making everything seem like its all doom and gloom? Leave me out of your misery guts assessment.

Pragmatism not one of your virtues then?

OF COURSE we're frustrated; we don't add to that frustration by the rinse & repeat of empty promises that don't even come close to even looking like being fulfilled.

How strange that you cottoned on to kenwright early doors - yet you point-blank refuse to see the inherent problems wih martinez?

How long does martinez get davek?

Mate I applaud your +ve attitude, but you are being unfair to DM. He had to manage in a different era -we are comparatively more equal now with quality players accessible to all. RM has not convinced that he can implement a system that can be successful over the competition. Other EPL managers so far this season have clearly demonstrated they are far more innovative.

Moyes surrendered to the worst Liverpool side in 40 years at Wembley and people wanted to offer him a new contract.

Martinez loses to Stoke and people want full scale regime change.

We haven't been great this season and today was awful but there's a complete kneejerk from some atm

Think people are forgetting for the 2nd time in 3 seasons Martinez has been in charge, the opportunity for champions league football has been there for the taking.

We've failed.

He won't get another chance or at least a better chance next season.

I wouldn't swap what Roberto has done attack wise for the world. It's frustrating but we have to go through this teething trouble and retain our identity as an attack based team.

TH getting the bullet will help.

Yes. You are absolutely right. And dont you forget it that ive been in your camp through all tough patches.

The state of that middle paragraph, yep mate that's what this is all about. This 1 game.

no mate - Distan back pass let them in - this team has systemic defensive issues - don't be silly now.

No I'm saying that a large number of people wanted us to keep Moyes for 5 more years while getting humiliated several times in big game's.

Whereas a couple of months of average form and Martinez is turned into some sort of anti christ
