Everton transfers: Blues hold new talks with Andriy Yarmolenko's agent

Everton missed out on Dynamo Kiev playmaker in summer but eye fresh approach

Everton have been back in talks with the agent of Andriy Yarmolenko.

But the Blues are unlikely to make a move for the Dynamo Kiev playmaker until the summer.

Everton’s chief scout Kevin Reeves went to Ukraine earlier this month to watch Yarmolenko in Champions League action against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The 26-year-old only lasted 18 minutes before coming off with an ankle injury but Kiev still won the game 1-0 to book their place in the last 16 of the competition.

And Dynamo’s progression into the knockout stages of the Champions League means president Ihor Surkis will not be willing to sell Yarmolenko when the window opens next month.

But the Blues believe they could force through a deal in the summer.

Everton failed in a bid to sign the Ukraine international in the summer, even though they were willing to meet the player’s £14.5m buy-out clause.

The Blues found Dynamo difficult to do business with but it has not deterred Roberto Martinez, who has retained an interest in the player.

Yarmolenko signed a new five-year-deal with Kiev in October but his representative Vadim Shabliy confirmed that it was his priority to secure his client a Premier League move.

Everyone got overly excited about this during the summer, making songs up about him before he even signed. Kopite behaviour.

Missed our chance on this guy.

It's almost as if there is starting to be fan unrest... file under never going to happen.

He will be on the radar of far bigger teams after the Euros

If martinez does sign him on the basis of lukaku and del then fantastic. I would love him here.

The whole thing just strikes me as a mouthino thing. We were linked afterwards but never came to anything.

(I'd be more inclined to believe this is a diversionary tactic while we look at someone else, though)

That FutbolUkraine account is at it again

fantastic!

not an Everton transfer windows without being linked to a hundred different players we are never going to sign.

We aren't signing this lad unless Howard is leaving. I can guess when Howard does leave there will be some fan fare about it 'thank you tim' sort of thing rather than a Tim cahill deal.

He has the same agent as Yarmolenko and in an interview last week he said that they had interest from England in him mate, that coupled with the agent previously stating that Martinez was watching several of his clients is where it originates - plus the player is pushing for a move from Dnipro.

probably utterly jarg to drive Beskitas into acting fast and paying more IMO

@bluestevon i know i asked you before about Boyko. Couple of things though, which keeper would he be comparable to? Also would his club let him go in Jan?

Separately, i think if the 4 that Martinez highlighted that he wants to sell do leave then we simply have to sign someone for the left, whether thats Yarmolenko or someone else i dont know....or were stuck with Kone/cleverley there.
