Roberto Martinez discussion

It's not that though is it Cheese?

it's the 5 wins in 17 league games.

Or the two in the last 10.

Or that he had £9m to spend on a defender and bought Funes Mori.

I understand that orly, I jumped all over him last year and wanted him out, can;t put an ounce of blame on him for that result.

The balance is wrong in the side, too many defensive errors every game. Martinez can take his fair share of blame, not today though our defenders are letting our attackers down.

The crazy thing is that I really don't know where our next win is coming from.

For a team of our apparent quality that's absolutely insane.
This entire season has been insane. If anyone had told me last season that Chelsea would be relegation fodder and LEICESTER of all people would be top, I'd think they were nuts.

So who is the new Owen Coyle/Bilic that we whimsically want in because we unluckily lost a game?

you thought that was unlucky ? Fact is we don't win many, haven't done so for a while and it's simply not good enough.

Re: a replacement for Martinez ... there are plenty of managers out there with far better credentials (after all he's won 1 FA Cup and been relegated) .. and we can always dream ... Simeone

It's not the fact we lost to Leicester that bothers me, it's the fact we've dropped points against the likes of Bournemouth and Norwich. And I honestly don't get why he never starts Mirallas.

I'm not jumping on the Martinez hate train yet. I like him and I want him to do well here. But he worries me sometimes and I don't want a repeat of last season.

This is the whole point.

You have to win when you are by miles the better team in the match.

Those three games we literally chucked six points away.

With those six points in the bank we could have taken today's defeat in our strides and still been knocking on the top four door.

While Martinez's personnel decisions certainly need to be called into question at this point, today's loss against Leicester comes down to execution. You can't give them two penalties and expect to win. Today was about players, not strategy or management.

That being said, we need to ask if Martinez has what it takes to take the team forward and convince the players to stay on board. I see the following players possibly looking for a move in the summer: Stones, Lukaku, Barkley, Mirallas (if he isn't gone in January) and possibly more. The question we have to ask is, is Martinez capable of convincing these players to stay and try to take this team to the next level (after all, he did sign them), and if not, who is?

I think it's only fair to say that had we won today. Vaulting would have been gigantic, but to me 1 result doesn't mean that much, it's a bigger picture, some would have rejoiced today in victory because it proved Martinez had us going the right way.

Yep irony

Dismiss 18 months of form but take 1 game in isolation to prove something. That doesn't sit right with me.

The same way 1 more defeat or game without a win doesn't mean he's any worse than he was this morning.

You have to look at the bigger picture, we are on the cusp of dropping 100 points in the past 18 months before we have gained 75points in a league where you get 3 for a win and 1 for a draw.

this all day.

we need a manager who's managed at the top level none of this preston/wigan nonsense. my pick is AVB as he's available at the end of the season. the boro guy and howe fall into the moyes/martinez category for me - do not want.
