lol. I said players who get injured in Pre season Rarely get going straight away, see barkley the season prior.

you'd have to give up your job if you were gonna vault everyone who thought Kone wasn't up to it.

martinez trying to get us playing how many wins in the league again? lol

who knows where we would be with a couple of more signings

and finally

I said I do fear for us,surely that shows my expectation not the other way round winning less than 33% of the time is a trend continued from last season

hahaha and you're happy with that.

and this only took 2 minutes

oh an one more time you're happy with a manager who has got us 70 points from the last 162. lol. 92 points dropped and I'm the one with low expectations. hahaha have

It's sad to see you staggering around, clutching that win percentage like your last bottle of whiskey, very sad. But let's look at our progress.

Between the summer and now, we've gone from needing 3-5 quality signings to having...
the best squad we have had to his credit
We've gone from Martinez trying to get Buck's Fizz players playing champagne football to admitting that...
Some of the football is excellent

Look Ian, if you feared being 3 points off 5th and in the League Cup semi final with less than half the season gone, then that's a bit weird. But hey, it's your life pal I'm not going sit here and tell you how to fear! By my reckoning, Martinez has exceeded your expectations and then some, so you have to keep making the box smaller until you realize it's just you, alone, with your agenda against our Catalan conqueror. Come with me brother, let go of the anger and be FREE.

Once again I will admit that at this time last year I became completely disillusioned with Martinez, I thought he should go. No point going over all our failings, they were well rehearaed in the pages of this forum. I knew he wouldn't be sacked and we were stuck with him.
In the transfer window I started to see things in him that I didn't believe we're there. How he handled John Stones for example.
This season I expected us to improve, I didn't expect us to be challenging for top 4 or top 6 even. I expected a continuation with the type of football we were playing.
This season we have shown, albeit in patches, that this team is capable of great football. That has to be down to Martinez, he has moved us forward both in style and in playing staff. We are in a must better state than we were this time last Christmas.
For me Martinez has improved US, I am of the opinion that is all that you can expect. It would appear that for some our improvement has not come quickly enough, a perfectly reasonable position to adopt given the players we have, but I for one am content that we are moving forward and will continue to improve.
Martinez has won me over.

Magic that isn't it,

The premier league is very tough, if we carry on like this we might be safe at Easter if we can get the same out of the next 20 games.

Let's hope the teams like Sunderland are as bad as we hope.

My point being, we are not as good as everybody seems to think we are.

Investing in youth is great, but we have dropped 17 points. If you are happy with that, good luck to you.

My sentiments exactly !!

Again I would count/class Champagne football as winning football, not 45 minutes of, admittedly very good football, at a Norwich team who hadn't won in 10 game prior to our visit.

As I have said we are 3pts of 5th (Spurs I think) but why are they the bench mark, haven't they drawn too many gsames also, although they are competing in Europe, which as we shown last season, can hamper you PL form. This is a Spurs team who 3 games ago occuppied the 'Holy Grail' of 5th place 3 games ago and in thos past 3 games have picked up 2 points and yet we are still 3 points behind them. Thats just great, talk about taking advantage.

Anyhow I'm done with this conversation now, its become very repetitve, unfortunately we are not going to agree on this, I thionk our form is poor, Our results are poor and Managers at clubs with expectation have been sacked for a lot less yet some of our fans don't think the past 18 months have been acceptable.

:(

Never mind the various posts talking one way or other, the sheer fact is we could and should have been better.

The way I see it, even thought we've thrown away points in multiple games and were midtable, were still 5 points off the top 4 and only 12 off the top at Christmas, we all would have took that at the start of the season. And it been done without our captain and organiser in chief, and the only person Howard listens to, a defence which has been half full of 21 year olds and Mori.

Its not bad at all, the fact it could and should have been better is phenomenal

Okay 5 points off the top 4 but to get there we have to win and that lot above us have to lose, tall order that one.
