4 league games only this season, 2 in europe and 2 in league cup....

Could be just lazy journalism linking us to another english centre back. They signed him for £16mil + add ons.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is monitoring Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, as he sees the 20 year old as a potential replacement should John Stones, 21, leave the club. (Sunday People)

If we're being honest, we could get rid of Hibbert, McGeady, and Pienaar without even noticing they'd gone.

Gibson can go now, as can Naismith and Osman.

I'd give Oviedo a new deal as he wont be on masses anyway and hopefully he can get fit again.

Kev is a tough one because I love his weird eyes and his moments of magic but I feel like it's all gone a bit sour between us and him. Might be best for both parties if we moved him on.

One of the most noticeable things this season is how strong the bench looks.

Get rid of Naismith, Osman, Gibson and Kev by all means, but make sure you bring in players who are more than capable of being a first team regular if given the chance.

From the starting XI yesterday, there is Jags, Besic and McCarthy still missing and Galloway was on there, so there are 5 places I suppose with the goalkeeper. Add Oviedo and Lennon to that and you realise if we brought in just another very decent striker or player to replace Kone in the starting XI and it still looks very strong without tapping into the kids.

I suppose there is definitely dead wood in there that could be chopped and certainly it could be said that Naismith, Osman, Peinaar and Gibson are really looking surplus to requirements.

Oh and Hibbert and Peinaar have been stealing a living out of the football club for 2 years now.

Get pienaar, Gibson, mcgeady, Osman, Hibbert all off the wage bill.
Finally this is a realistic opportunity, but unfortunately we'll have to wait until the Summer before we're removed of our burden of players

I think Pienaar's contract is up in the summer, so he'll most probably be released then. Great player over his time here, yet too injury prone now.

The same with Hibbert but it is time to release him when his contract expires in the summer. Potentially Gibson still has something to offer.

However, with his injury record combined with recent drink driving actions (adding weight to rumours of his lifestyle), means he may be released.

With regards to Osman, whose contract is also up in the summer, I'm not sure of what should happen. Maybe a one year extension if he's happy?

He's far too slow for starting in the majority of competitive games, yet he still has a good touch, experience and composure on the ball.

McGeady is contracted to 2018 though, and who would pay money for him? I'd be content with releasing at least three of the five.

Indeed. I'd expect at least 2 very good additions to the squad, especially if Kev went. I'd want someone similarly good to him but with a better attitude, and an attacking midfielder too, who is an upgrade on Nais/Ossie. Yarmolenko and another AM essentially. We've got enough centre mids.

would take chambers in a heartbeat if the price was right. him and stones should really be the future rather than smalling, but smalling's had a brilliant season.
