Roberto Martinez discussion

With the exception of Lukaku not that impressive in terms of who we have brought in.
I'd argue Del is as high quality a signing as Rom. Especially at a fraction of the cost (ignoring the buy-back clause).
But it's not just who he's brought in. He's kept our young stars where it would have been extremely likely under Moyes they'd now be at other clubs. Imagine if Rooney came on to the scene as a 16 year old under Martinez now.

Need to put it in context. We've drawn with Bournemouth who have since beat Chelsea and United (maybe). Drew with one of the best away teams who won at Anfield and drew with a team who's last home game drew with Arsenal. In all those games we've played some great stuff. Had we been struggling or lucky to get a point I could understand the fume but not now. He's got the top end right so deserves time to sort the defence out.

I tend to take the opposite view, Mini.

Scraping draws when playing bad shows depth of character and a willingness to battle.

These last three games we have played some absolutey scintillating football and have failed to win one of them.

That worries me.

One game I could overlook......two I start to ask questions......but to fail to win once after three displays like that sets alarm bells ringing.

The minute that equalising goal went in today you saw the confidence drain from the team.

It was almost like the players, just as the fans did, knew that we are always just one stupid mistake away from chucking away the points in a game in which we should have run up a cricket score on the strength of the first half performance.

One thing I have learned in life is that you have to make hay while the sun is shining.

That applies to football as well......when you are playing at your peak you need to be winning matches.

And not to have emerged with at least one victory from those last three games is not a good sign IMO.

As things stand right now I can't see us beating Leicester come Saturday.

I'm not overly sure why all the angst has come out today against Martinez.

As crap as we were second half, we had more than enough chances to outscore Norwich today. That can't be the managers fault.

How dare you. This fume is all I have got don't try and take it away from me with your positive logical perspective.

We are, though. The performances are so much better.

Exactly.

You can't compare the situation to this time last year.

FFS we we were even booing when 3-0 up, such was the boring fare on offer v QPR.

The whole atmosphere is different......much more positive, confident and upbeat.

In Black December 2014 the atmosphere was toxic.

But by Jove we badly need to start converting these great performances into wining football matches.

This isn't a critique of anyone posting here, but it's worth noting there's been nearly 40 pages on this since the result. Imagine if we lose a game!

I think it shows how passionate a fanbase we have, and how we all can see that there's something special growing but it's frustrating not seeing it bear fruits.
Wow I'm impressed Elong! Quite a salient point!

I understand what you are saying. Not winning games when you dominate long periods is worrying. However I would much rather be playing really well and dropping points than scraping results.
It is hard to believe the team that couldn't string 3 passes together can play the way we play at times this season. We are inconsistent, we now need to produce the high level we can reach for two halves.
This is one of those good times to be an Evertonian.
