Roberto Martinez discussion

Martinez seemingly sent the players out with the impression Norwich were gonna be that bad. Poor management.

These last dropped 6 points are all on Martinez. It's the manager's force of personality which makes sure his team are fully-focussed shortly after scoring (ala Bournemouth) and don't let their heads drop after losing a comfortable lead (ala Norwich).

If Martinez can't show he has this massively-important quality, then there's no case to answer the plotters, as results won't go our way.
I guess as a German you would know all about force of personality though wouldn't you...
Why are you unable to accept that the players are more at fault than the manager on this one.

Too often recently.

We need to win a back to back game.

When was the last time that happened?

The manager keeps talking about consistency, so it's good he recognises it. Consistency usually comes with some experience, but there's a lot of that. Howard, Barry, Cleverley, McCarthy, Kone, Baines, Lennon etc...

Can he really be blamed for the result though? Set the team up brilliantly, we raced out of the blocks and created chance after chance. Second half I imagine he said more of the same and Norwichs goal knocked the stuffing out of us. I think the players should stand up and take the blame for this, especially our inability to defend corners.

My worry was the lack of plan B.

So Crystal Palace's fitness was inferior to ours?

Simple case of momentum mate. Norwich got the goal early doors second half and kicked on. Disappointing we couldn't wrestle it back.

Happens like.

How do you maintain momentum when you are unfit and your body is struggling to last 90mins mate.

Indeed we are. So let's give this young team a little bit of space to develop. These sort of games just prove they are inexperienced.
Disagree mate. Last season I had far more concerns. This year I can see him trying to gel together the best young team I've seen at Everton in 30 years.

There will be ups and downs but I don't reckon were far from clicking.

The fanbase needs to be a bit more patient towards the manager, he's setting the club up right in the position were in. From the youth teams too.

Would be a shame if we done a Geordie special and ruined a good thing before it had the chance to blossom.

We're going nowhere in a hurry with the ownership of the club we have right now, so why can't people wait a bit?
Agreed but I'd be surprised if he can keep the talent we have next season.
Disappointing as we are 2 players away from being a belter of a team.

I think the majority are more than prepared to be patient. Are players like Lukaku? We're a bid away in January from having everything come undone.

Worry for me is that we're not picking up the points whilst playing this way. Teams will get smart like Norwich did in the second half and we won't have it so 'easy'.

Football's a strange game, we get 7 points from the last 9 and I'm probably sat here on a train into Lime Street singing we're gonna win the league. Now I'm thinking we're doomed and Christmas shopping is a nightmare.
