Tim Howard

Did well on Saturday didn't he?
That charge out was indisputably good goal keeping. Also you've seen many a good goal keeper beaten by that sort of Richardson shot, thinking it's curling right before it checks left, leaving you flat footed and off balance.
Build on it Tim.

We'll have to agree to disagree there mate. If you look at the video of that incident Howard has his eyes closed as he lunges out of control. He had no composure. As for the Richardson shot - put it another way - if that had gone in it would have rightly been described as a "howler".

It's pretty clear that Valdes was not available, at least for another Premier League team. Van Gaal has actually come out and said that. As for Begovic, he's been terrible this season, by no stretch of the imagination "many leaves ahead of Howard". I shudder to think how much worse we'd be this season with Begovic in goal and no Funes Mori (who we would not have been able to afford if we bought Begovic).

I think Begovic is significantly better than Howard. I also disagree with the idea Howard has been better this season!

Last summer Valdes or Begovic could have been had for sub £10m. Both would have been many leaves ahead of Howard.
thing is how do you know we didn't enquire about these players? Same with last Summers Number10 hunt.

Just because a player is signed by another club doesn't mean that we weren't trying to sign them, it means they chose somewhere else for whatever reason (usually European Football, Money or they just like the Club)

Howard has had a better, more experienced defence in front of him this season even taking into account our injury woes (which we also had the first half of last season). Any Keeper looks better when they have a bit of confidence in the backline in front of them. Our defence (Tim included) has been generally pretty good this season and it will only improve when Baines and Jags return

Who thinks like this? Using your same logic on things that didn't happen...

1. Barkley's first goal was close to the post on a wide open net. If he misses that it's a howler. He isn't good.
2. Lukaku's first goal... if he doesn't head it down then he misses. He isn't good.
3. Barkley's second he runs at the ball very aggressively, no composure, probably should have left it for Kone, He may have closed his eyes and the net was wide open! If he misses that then it's terrible. He isn't good.

Did we win 4-0? or did we lose 1-0 on a howler by Tim? Unbelievable this.

He is a scapegoat mate and he will never lose that tag now. Keeps a clean sheet and its ' didn't have anything to do '. And also, and not the first time this season......... ' well If that shot had gone in..... He should of came for this..... He should of done that.... '. There is just no pleasing some and thats the way it will always be. The whole team played exceptionally well on Saturday, except Howard who didn't have anything to do. His clean sheet doesn't count because Villa are wank.

I'm going to be accused of being a homer American, but it's like no one ever remembers the string of incredible reaction saves he makes because of his athleticism. It's like they didn't happen. Does he have the occasional howler? Yes. He's not Neville Southall. But the anti-Howard brigade mystify me. We're not bringing David DeGea in lads.

Oh come on! He's awful. How anybody can defend him after saturday is laughable. Every one of Villas goals were Howards fault. He's a clown. We need to get rid as soon as.

I have never had a problem with his "starfish" attempt at saving. The object is to make yourself as big a target as possible and hopefully the ball will hit off some part of you and rebound out.

All the top keepers make unconventional saves and that is not down to luck, that is good goalkeeping .

He looked like a drunk gypsy dad trying to start a fight with a polar bear.

Howard isn't very good and needs to be replaced. He's the weak link in an otherwise very promising team.

Other than that - the future is bright blue.
