We are considering signing Ron Vlaar

If he's cheap, I suppose it's not the worst signing we could make

I'd rather Galloway or Browning get a chance at CB, or even Pennington, but he's experienced I suppose and if Jagielka is going to be out for a while, he could provide cover for the time being

We could always have a word with Blackburn regards a certain fellow though.......

Because our senior CB is out until at least the New Year.

Stones is great but quite a task asking him to marshall the defence given his age and the whole transfer saga. RFM has adapted remarkably well but not unusual for a new player to struggle over the Christmas period given the high concentration of games.

If either of them get injured it would mean Galloway or Browning to step in however not only have they never played a league game in the position but they are also our current cover for the fullback positions and suffering from injuries themselves.

Adding a temporary bit of experienced cover might not be a bad idea.

The more I think about this the more I think it's a good idea.

If 2 of Funes Mori, Jagielka or Stones gets injured (which is very possible) then we'll be relying on one of Galloway or Browning to come in and play in a position that they've never played in before at the highest level. It could be a good thing and they take to it like a duck to water, or they could struggle and it ruin their confidence.

Fair enough. Feels very Lucas Neill to me.

Guess it's not the worst news.

Indeed, especially since Browning and Galloway are both carrying knocks at the moment. If Baines isn't yet deemed ready we essentially have three fit PL defenders in the entire squad.
