James McCarthy

to be fair he gets virtually no stick from fans. I sometimes knock him on here simply because it seems 95% of our fans think he's roy Keane mk2 and I disagree. I don't think I've ever heard him get called out a game, and most stuff on social media claims he's under rated (not sure who by).
He's an effective midfield player who's still developing. I'm not sure 95% of our fans think he's Roy Keane, they just recognise him for what he is which is a good midfield player for us. He's not on form at the minute mind.

Roy Keane was a thug, still is.Not a favourite of the football purists but done what he had to do.
McCarthy is like a Duracell bunny his stamina is way beyond anyone else we have.
Agreed his form is not the best at the moment, but swap him...no thanks.
Wouldnt wish any long term injury to Payet but McCarthy done what Reidy would do years ago.
What a difference to the likes of "Captain Pip" (wheres me sick bag) playing for us.

I welcome that bit of snide about us. We've been a soft touch for far too long.

The next step in this team is him replacing Barry. The worst part about it is that Barry won't be replaced until next season when he's blatantly too old to play every single game.

We've been no more of 'soft touch' than anyone else in the league. It's just a ridiculous expression fans come up with when leg breaking tackles aren't coming in for fun.

Roy Keane compared to James McCarthy haha.

Who brings the ball out between the CBs? Who is playing alongside Ross when going forward? Offensively we essentially play a 4-1-2-3.

You would know this if you watched the games.

You have a very condescending manner, good for you.

I completely disagree with the notion that McCarthy is the dynamic centre mid that you make him out to be. That's backed up by his assists/goals ratio. As someone who runs around a lot and gets stuck in I think he does a good job.

For us to threaten the top 4 I think this role needs to be filled by someone who can offer more in the final third. The standard is set by Cazorla, that's what we should be aiming for. Tbh, I'd drop Barkley back in there to go towards this, at least at home against teams who have no intention of breaking out of their own half.

No it isn't. It's referring to us being soft touches and being too fair and not benefitting.

Condescending manners eh.

It's very rare I've came away from a game in the past couple of years thinking I wish we'd got stuck in more.

A lack of dynamism/creativity in the final third against teams we're probably better than is what I think has cost us.

So you admit they don't play the same role then?

Sorry if it came off as condescending, but you kind of were doing the same thing IMO. Maybe I misread.
