Remembrance Sunday..

Noticed it's the trendy thing to do this year to hate on wearing a poppy. "Oh it glorifies violence" or "oh, it's worn too much it becomes meaningless". Was always with the white poppies but seen it more in the news than ever.

Just put on your poppy and respect those who fought for you, don't be a bell.

Cant say I've noticed.

The rest of the planet could be forgiven for thinking that Britain is populated by heroin addicts.

It's either that or people going totally overboard on not showing respect for the troops, gone are the days when it was symbolised by dignified old boys with medal strewn Blazers.

You're right, it's a sad indictment of our society today that if you want to buy and wear a poppy as a small symbol of your respect for any member of the armed forces that sadly lost their life, or for whatever you want it to signify is being commented on that you're some sort of advocate of war.
Personally, I always donate and will buy several poppies over the next week or two, as I have family that served in the forces and my grandad who actually died on Remembrance Sunday 2004 (November 14th) so it means something to me in that way.

As with everything, people have the right to buy one, wear one or don't. I don't think someone should be lauded for wearing one or vilified for not wearing one, I hate this need that everyone seems to have to be accepted. Do it for your own reasons, either buying one or not, but absolutely respect the right that someone who does the opposite to do so.

I don't want to go to war, I don't want to sacrifice my life for the country. I don't want to die in some foreign land defending the Queen and her lands.

The very least I, and all of us, can do is buy a poppy and show respect to those that do and have done.

RIP the fallen.

Some of my family don't wear a poppy as their relatives were not helped by the British Legion after WW1, refusing to pay out over the death of a soldier caused by mustard gas. So you can't judge people when you see them without one on. Harry Leslie Smith; a veteran of WW2, doesn't wear a poppy. Here's why

My grandad and grandma both lost their fathers during WW1, both never got to see them. Hard to imagine the scale of the loss of life, im glad all i have to moan about is everton.

The men who died, on all sides, were infinitely better men than the spoilt, morally weak, self indulgent, me first degenerates that we seem to have spawned over the last 30-40 years...........

Exactly this. Identity politics has infested the minds of so many these days. It's fine in football but people should learn some individualism (or to respect individualism in others) in most other areas of life.

Thing is you'll be hard pushed to find a newsreader, presenter, politician or journalist not wear one. The main reason many of them will be wearing will be because they don't want the discussion as to why they might not be wearing it. It's this unspoken pressure which is damaging the actual act of remembrance.

Remembrance isn't about the poppy, it's about remembrance.

Oh defo. I mean the mass raping of anything female as either side conquered land is testimony to that.

Both wars were full of Kopites.
