Ruined my post now you have edited. lol

Sake.

Shame if he is a busted flush, but these last few weeks, and against Arsenal in particular, it has been horrific.

One quote during the game "if you are sharper in the commentary box than you are in the penalty area it's time to swap the mike for your boots"

I watched the game in the US with a bunch of Americans. Concensus was that fear has crept into Howard's game (he was never the most imposing player despite his physique) and as a result his decision making is impaired resulting in this chronic lack of presence in his own area.

Concensus was that his only chance of recovery was through being dropped and intensive work on the training ground.

Personally I think he is mentally shot, like a golfer with the yips, there's no way back to the highest level.

I fear that's the case too. Nothing to do with his age which especially for a keeper is fine ... but he's lost it ... TBF ever since the WC but it seems even worse of late.

I think we're all agreed dropping him and never playing him again is the humane, compassionate thing to do. If Martinez is the man we think he is he will show Tim this mercy and send him to MLS in January.

I agree give Robles a run in the team if he performs well, and then sign another keeper in January, TH seems to be undropable with some others too we need competition not he's my no 1 even if he plays crap!

Keeper should have been bought last summer or earlier after Howard put in possibly the worst goalkeeping season ever seen at Goodison Park

Agree that a new keeper should have been bought in the summer - nobody, including Martinez, seems to think that Robles is a ready-made replacement for Tim.
By the way, Dai the Drop would provide competition for the worst goalkeeping season.

The problem is not really with goalkeeping. Tim's save percentage is reasonable. The problem is the team have allowed 49 shots on target so far this season. That is fifth on the table, surpassed only by Stoke and the relegation sides Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa. By contrast, City have allowed 17. Even Bournemouth have allowed only 33. It's a team defense issue, not a keeper issue. Oh, and where are the goals from Mirallas and Deulofeu 10 games in?
