Defensive Lapses

in games where we are being pushed back, Kone is a better alternative than Lukaku. He is better at holding up the ball and bringing others into play than Lukaku.

Now let me just check this

You want us to drop our 1 in every 2 and a bit games goalscorer for Kone?

And you genuinely, genuinely mean this?

most games I would want Lukaku to start. But in games where we know the opposition will have the initiative and we have to defend heavily, then I would use Kone. Not many of those games. But games like against City, Utd, Arsenal.

Right so hang on - you are saying we should drop our best goalscorer for the games against the best opposition.

Absolutely 100% mental.

did lukaku have a good game against arsenal today? did he have a good game against utd? no.. I know it was difficult games to be a striker, but I have seen enough of them both to know that Kone does a better job to keep a hold of the ball than Lukaku.

He was fouled repeatedly against United and lacked service and today the same service wise anyway. so to think kone would do a better job upfront? Yearh ok mate.

Kone can hold up the ball, but not as a sole striker. We've seen it several times, he tires very quickly and drifts out of the game.

You genuinely think we should put him in, upfront all alone, a man with with 3 goals in 26 games for Everton, against the best opposition.

Deary me.

yes, because he is much better at winning duels, getting the ball down, holding the opposition players off and bring the ball to our own players. Don't tell me you haven't seen he is much better at that than Lukaku??

With Lukaku the ball comes straight back at us. Kone is better to get a hold of the ball and take pressure off.

Lukaku and Kone seem to play well together, albeit not in a traditional two-up-front set up.

I wouldn't play Kone at the expense of Lukaku though, I really rate Rom, personally.

And what does he then do with the ball?

I must have missed this where Kone became Alan Shearer

give the ball to another of our player. Puts some of the pressure against us off, making us to keep hold of the ball a little bit longer, resulting in less pressure against us.

I don't think Lukaku was too bad??? He just wasn't given enough support for a majority of the game, and he was getting fondled by the defense for large portions of it. His runs and holdup play are definitely improving; he just couldn't find his feet when the shot was on.
