John Stones transfer saga

It looks definitive.

However, you literally dont know with this feller until the window officially closes.

Regardless of that, it's always been about providing the manager with cash for this window as far as I've been concerned.

Keep Stones? Wonderful. Have that Chelsea. Yes...and then what after the buzz dies down?

We need action in this transfer window, not just holding what we have.

That's the part of the equation the fat headed fraud hasn't addressed.

I'm willing to give it till 6 pm on Tuesday to decide how I feel about all this. IF we keep Stone AND improve the squad with at least 3 players then it will have been a good window. If we just keep Stones without bringing proper additions and Kenwright and Co use this as a cloak to cover an abysmal window so far then I'll be far from happy.

I actually believe for once we are going to do it properly and will come through September 2nd a much stronger looking side...but as you say, you never know with this club.

Board are a disgrace for turning down so much money for a player who still hasn't totally proven himself.

Well.

:)

You know, if this was the end of May and Chelsea were offering in the region of 35/40 million I might agree with you.

In fact, I imagine Bobby would have recommended the deal to the board, got the money from them and spent the summer investing the dough.

But it isn't the end of May.

It is the end of August and we have no time to invest the money wisely.

So no, Steve....the board are not a "disgrace" for turning it down at this eleventh hour.

The cynic in me thinks the board may have played a masterstroke here. Get Stones to hand in request, reject it, look great, fans forget about lack of signings for a bit and window closes without any major signings. Also makes us look stronger in media.

Why would stones agree to that ? Stones submitted a transfer request because he wanted to move .
