John Stones transfer saga

By the way, the reaction from all sides and everyone, including the media, both clubs and so on, has been a stark indication to just how badly gash football has become.

I must admit I'm interested until the window closes, but this has soured the whole game for me personally.
Assuming we keep, I sort of see it as the opposite. Martinez is taking a stand against the forces of modern football, he's showing ambition that defies the sky narrative and they don't like that.

Granted, the whole thing may amount to tilting a windmill. And he's only even empowered to do it because of the hugely lucrative TV deal.

But between us and West Brom's stand on Berahino, I think this whole episode could force a rethink of the notion that it's "ambitious" for a player to simply leave for a champions league club, instead of fighting to achieve champions league with their current club.

He seems to think Martinez has just said "money can't buy you everything"... because he wants more money.

That's the level of punditry we have in this country; people who are unable to grasp basic language.

Chelsea's hired media would always spin it that way IMO - i went no newsnow first thing this morning and one of the articles was along the lines of "Martinez now demands £45mil+ for Stones".

There is more then one walk in life where NO MEANS NO....

It looks they are using any means to get their way, think they will ramp it up in next 48 hours.

The net effect certainly seems like a concerted agenda... but I think in cases like his, he just wants to be seen to have an opinion and is hedging his bets on a likely outcome (from his own limited assessment of the situation)... it validates his role as a mouth-breather on TV with a sickening pay-check.

I was on a plane to Ireland from Heathrow the night we beat United in the '95 Final.

Martin Keown was on the plane a few rows in front of me.

Arsenal had lost a European final to a freak goal and I started singing "Nayim.....from the halfway line" to the tune of the Pet Shop Boys song as I passed him en route to the bathroom :(

To this day I recoil in shame and embarrassment every time I think if it :(

Hahahaha.
