John Stones transfer saga

If he leaves now, Martinez's position becomes untenable after what he said last night. Wonder if the board knew he was going to say that?

For me that was why there was such a silence from the club yesterday. Only my opinion, but I get the feeling there's disagreement between the board and Martinez. Martinez has put himself out there with his comments. I'd put a bit of money on saying this time next week we'll either have Stones and Martinez, or no Stones and no Martinez. Seems so much disarray at the club and to be honest with the lack of transfer activity over the summer and the increased cash we now have, the board don't seem fully behind Martinez.

You could not get anymore definitive from Martinez than his interview lastnight, absolutely no way Stones is moving this window, I don't even think a stupid 50m offer would do it.

The board are going to go with Martinez, because they know Stones's price is only going to improve over the next 12 months, and they know there would be a backlash from fans if he was sold.
