John Stones transfer saga

He's not you know.

He hasn't played football for the money, he's playing it because it's his love and he was lucky and skillfull enough to be able to do it at a level that pays him. I think too many forget that, and the money angle is an easy target.

I think a lot of us forget that footballers love football too.

If I could play football as my job I would, regardless if I was earning 20k per year or per week from it. I think most footballers have the same view.

You can hear 2 people shouting abuse at him from the front. On a video from a different angle you can see hundreds of Evertonians applauding him directly behind those two.

If he can't take abuse, and soft abuse at that considering what we've all heard at the match, from a tiny minority then he probably shouldn't be a professional footballer.

Dunno what gives you the right to say what another person should or shouldn't put up with. To steal a Jimmy Carr line, I wouldn't come into your workplace and knock the sailor's cocks out of your mouth.

After watching that through a couple of times, if Stones goes I will not blame him at all.

Honestly, if I was a 21 year old subjected to the same treatment as he was, I'd be off too. It's disgusting.

Of course, those fine upstanding gentlemen who support Chelsea would never ever abuse a player in that fashion.

Nor a manager they didn't fancy either.

The people you would be "off" to are well renowned fir their civility, forebearance and temperate language.

The FSW would testify to that.

I'm just sayin' is all

Hi lads.... quick question.... in the grand scheme of things how is a 21 year old debating whether he continues to get paid around 25k a week or 150k a week for kicking a ball going to affect your real day to day life ? ya know, actual work, paying the bills, feeding the kids.... etc ....honestly... some tosh in here

Everton affects my day to day life Kurt.

Everton fans in general getting slated everywhere for this. Apparently we're a disgrace etc.

Just to add some perspective, he was loudly applauded every time he got the ball for a short space of time and was applauded by 90% of our end when his name was read out.

Really, considering the high level of emotion involved I think the majority of our fans behaved impeccably. One or two idiots recording a video doesn't speak for the other 4,000+ fans in our end, much less the entire fan base.

nice to hear naisy rushed too his defense ........ I'm sure there is a potential joke about his lack of ability to rush into attack but I'm too tired to think of one.
