John Stones transfer saga

His tactics last year were so good that we didn't even finish top half.
Our squad was too thin, and we played in Europa, which taxed our club too much, IMHO. It's clear that players (Ross, Rom, Deu, Barry, Coleman, Stones) have increased their value under him, and he seems to develop talent well.

I hope we reject the request as I want him to stay, but what if he stays and doesn't want to play or try anymore? I mean I've lost most respect for him now anyway but is there any point keeping him around in that circumstance.

Unlikely for a couple of reasons. Firstly he's got to secure a place in the England squad/team. He won't do that if he's not playing well. Secondly he's obviously wanted to go for a while but has still been playing well professionally. Once the window closes I don't see this changing. Finally if he starts playing absolutely rubbish clubs looking to sign him will most probably change their mind on him.

Sorry lads, a bit lost here ...

Are there any actual quotes from Everton, Stones or his agent in regards the handing in of this transfer request yesterday?

As it is, Roberto will be spending his pre & post match interviews tonight being hounded on the subject.

Anyone? Because the BBC, Sky Sports, Press Association etc etc are full of sh!te & appear to be Mourinho sock puppets.

If it was untrue someone would have said so by now. Seeing as they haven't it must be.

Yep there's no "positive" spin they can put on it that doesnt make them look ridiculous for asserting he's not for sale all summer, when it was clear to everyone what would happen. So they're just saying nothing. As always

Lots rumours flying about that, Everton are trying to buy out, our percentage of your sell on fee but we've said no and it's causing problems.
Why would you agree to that at this point? Why would we even be asking that at this point? It's not like you're going to agree to accept less than you'd be getting in your percentage

I'm not sure I understand how this works. How would Barnsley be able to hold up the deal?

Everton won't sell unless they accept a low selling on fee is my guess mate. There's a post about it a few pages previously which makes a bit of sense of why Everton could try and knock Barnsley down if they thought Barnsley were desperate for any kind of money ( 5% instead of supposed 15% )

Last season was more down to his persistence with this crap one winger tactic, playing Howard and Barry every week even though they were woeful and much more than our squad being a bit thin.

I don't buy the Europa excuse either. Our worst run of form was in December when we had no Europa commitments other than one game against Krasnadar and even then no first team players played. Also we went out both cups in the 3rd round so it's not like we had any extra games there.

As far as I can tell, no.

However, the fact that there wasn't a club statement refuting it and the BBC reporting it too does offer some support to the rumour.

I prefer to wait for some degree of clarification instead of jumping on the hate fuelled band wagon.
