John Stones transfer saga

No of course not but it all adds up. There has been no mention of Martinez's transfer budget. Where was the Yarmalenko money coming from? I assume he still has that cash to use.

I just think people forget wages etc. Take this Stones scenario now. People are saying we need to spend every last penny of what we may receive for him. Lets say we get 40M, our fans will expect lets say a 20M marquee signing and 2 10M signings. But that doesnt balance out as Stones is on about 30k currently, the new players will be after 50k a week at least so thats a 120k deficit a week already for us. It all adds up.

To be honest it doesnt matter anyway. No matter how much we spend we will end up in roughly the same position regardless. Football is terrible these days.

Exactly why we shouldn't sell him. Even with 40 mill we couldn't afford the wages of three top players so the transfer fees are largely irrelevant. Better thing to do would have been to get the deadwood off the books early in the summer then finance an early deal for a top player, show some intent and maybe Stones would consider staying another year. Spending the lowest in the prem after coming 11th last season was a just a clear indicator to Stones that we've got no ambition.

Cant you?

I can. He doesn't get a free pass for stabbing us in the back with 5 days to go in the transfer window.
Forget about Stones. He probably does deserve some blame but by blaming Stones you are playing into board's hands. It's not just our board either this is just the way things are done so the players get the blame. That's the reason why Linekar has come out against it. Why Mourinho made that cryptic comment. It's a joke. It's another thing that's wrong with modern football and the fans as always are being played as mugs.

Indulge me here, cos maybe I am being thick, but are we meant to believe that Kenwright has asked John Stones to put in a transfer request so that he can get all the stick from the fans instead of kenwright, and Stones agreed?

Why would he do that?

That us exactly what certain people want you to believe.

course it was, we had already paid a few million towards him. Considering chelsea and adhering to FFP, the 28 million was more for their records than ours.

Dont know the exact loan fee amount but it was included.

Wasn't the fee 25 million, rising to 28 million if we get champions league?

The lad hasn't stabbed us in the back. He has remained professional throughout, played well for us, kept his toys in his pram and has never used the media to engineer a move like many others have in the past. I can't begrudge him a move and wonder if the late request was fully to the surprise of the board.

Maybe if we showed some ambition and bought some more players he would of thought different ... He's leaving if true for 4 times his salary .... What would you do if you were him ?
Put his cards on the table weeks ago!!!! He is no no better than Lescot and he can rot in Hell. Hope he breaks both his F888ing legs first match out!

If you feel like that then I guess you are still expecting them to honor what they have been saying. "They won't sell".

I think you and me both know that won't happen but we will see.

How can you tell me what I expect and then contradict it in the next sentence for gods sake. I don't know what's going to happen, nobody does at this moment, spouting endless bs and throwing round accusations is a pointless exercise.

I've just given you the facts of what is publicly known, nothing more or less. Carry on with all your wild theories and scenarios as you like if it makes you happy, it's just doesn't make you right.

Chelsea can risk £35m on potential. Everton can't keep a player with potential when they are offered £35 million. If he turns out to be bang average we will have lost £27-28 Million. If he had been outstanding for 3 seasons we could pay him big money and keep him, but he wasn't even in our first team for most of last season.

There's reports that he has said he would put in a transfer request weeks ago. We knew he was going to do it. Can you blame him for wanting to go to a team where he can win things as opposed to us who are the lowest spenders in the league who just finished 11th. He's not an Evertonian or even one of our academy graduates.

What was he supposed to do? What would you do?

It was hours.

WBA have handled this a lot better than us, but I think in their case the transfer request is genuine and has come as a surprise. With us... well, Charlie Adam of all people put it best here:

Quoted that Charlie Adam quote in another thread... says it all really mate.

The biggest problem is lack of ambition and no backing for the manager from the board - that why we cannot sign anybody and our good players end up leaving. That is fact mate !
I don't think the issue with Stones & Board ambition can be considered as mutually exclusive. If players genuinely harbour an ambition to play for the top 4 clubs in order to play CL then we have to have the backing & the drive to get this club turned into a top 4 club.
Otherwise, we become a feeder club & retirement village all in one. We become fans that cherish our 2014 Stones kits, and are just grateful that we had a chance to watch them, before they were big, in an Everton top.

Here's what I think

1,If we reject the transfer request then stones has engineered it

2,If we accept the transfer request then the board have engineered it

In the past when players of other clubs have put in transfer requests, the club has usually come out quickly and turned them down (e.g WBA Berahino, RS Sterling, Suarez), now I thought the club would of released something last night and if not first thing this morning, which has made me think it is the latter of the two that have engineered this request.

I think if this happens the board are going to lose a lot of supporters who have backed them during recent times
