John Stones transfer saga

Am I right in thinking Barnsley's sell on clause is void if he hands in a transfer request?

Or am I talking nonsense? :p

....reports this morning suggest we are trying to 'settle' on a figure with Barnsley under the amount they would be entitled to after the transfer. Barnsley apparently saying no. Penny pinching again if true.

I think John Stones needs to have a long hard look at himself, He's 20, playing regular football for a Good Prem side. I don't see what the hurry is to leave. He should learn his craft here.

However like I said yesterday, nobody is irreplaceable, players will be with less than 50 appearances tend not to linger in the memory.

If this is what he wants all power to Him, Everton will carry on.

Am I allowed to boo him if he moves and plays against us after the international break? I feel like he's my gf who's just told me on my wedding day she slept with my brother.

We CAN just take players in return. see how much they get then....

No one's mentioned hibbert at centre half.

But back on topic and there is something not right with this situation as many have already said.

It stinks of the board. Past history reflects that.

transfer requests at the end of August
Rooney
lescott
Arteta (3 mins before window closes, don't see a penny)
Fellaini (about 10 mins before window closes)

There's probably more but it's early and half asleep. Someone from the club needs to come out and confirm or deny the 'sky source'. The same people who have said we'd signed Yarmolenko.

Take into account stones' comments from pre season, it doesn't add up.

To be honest I don't know who to blame or what the actual truth is and unfortunately we'll never know, even long after he's been sold we'll still be scratching our heads.
We obviously have very different outlooks, because if I read what you have posted, it indicates to me that the club are not wanting to sell their best players despite receiving offers, but the players have decided that they want to earn more elsewhere so have forced the issue by handing in a transfer request.

How do you come to the conclusion that these transfer requests were orchestrated by the board?

Left back? I give up.

He's taking a massive risk IMO.

That mistake he made against Watford...we tolerate as a learning experience. Do that in a CL game and he won't see the pitch for a while.

That crazy walk-a-bout he did vs City. The one where he gave the ball away and tried to win it back...which led to him getting tackled by the LB and the face save by Howard.

I think he's a massive talent...but not ready for the largest stage. That stuff will be magnified a million times over with a massive fee next to his name.

The City game showed his frustrations which i had never seen before. He was shouting instructions all round and running all over the pitch trying to do everything himself. That to me, shows that he is dissatisfied with his teammates and that the transfer saga is getting to him.

As good as stones is for he's age, he is far from the worlds best defenders, since he's been a regular in the last year or so how many clean sheets have we kept?. For me keeping him is a key part of what Martinez is trying to achieve and him going is a set back, but his isn't that good at the moment that he can't be replaced, the time before Lescott left our defence was better. Also why does a transfer request even exist, if the player is under contact it should be the clubs to fight it out, or have clauses in the contract when it's signed. Long term we don't suffer to Badly apart from Rooney be usually get very good replacements ( Distin for Lescott) ( McCarthy for Fellain) .

I agree with you. Regular football, certain England call ups, still learning and getting better. This is a gamble for John Stones career. Money wise he will be in heaven but career wise it could go well or really bad. He will have to handle the pressure, he will have to accept the consequences if he makes the mistakes he has made at Everton. He will be dropped to warm the bench if he makes a few mistakes whereas here he knows we are accepting that he is still learning and mistakes are part of his learning. Its a risk at the moment because progress is a certainty at Everton and he still has a hell of a lot to learn. Yes he can learn from Terry and Cahill perhaps but 1st team chances are a lot slimmer at Chelsea.

Because we still owe Lukaku money and the new debt repayments are due. Each season a short term loan, in addition to our larger ongoing debt, is taken out for operational costs. Its very convenient that we've had so many last minute transfers out, leaving us with little or no time to buy replacements eg. Marcus Bent replacing Rooney.

Football is rotten to the core. We'll not see much of any fee received for Stones.

I don't know,I feel since the weekend he has had "information" he will start the majority of games, this is what has turned his head.

This just reiterates to me that Everton are not a big club anymore. I can't see us being a big club in the next 20 years. We are not equipped to be that big club. Ground not good enough with no plan for that. Owners who don't want to invest but bleed us dry, a club in debt. A club with no assess except the players. I'm not trying to be a wind up merchant here but players know or think they can't win trophies here and want to move on to the big clubs as soon as they come calling. We are just a stepping stone. Rooney, Lescott, Artetat, Fellaini, stones all wanted out as soon as bigger clubs come in. Also if you believe some reports jags wanted to go to Arsenal when they wanted him as did Baines want to go to United but them 2 didn't want to go the extra step like the others have done. We are not a big club merely a stepping stone for players to get to the big clubs. Who's to blame. The board.
