I remember them saying no player was worth one million pounds. Things are worth what people who really really want them will pay.

And for the longest time the highest amount paid for any english player in the UK was for a defender.

Chelsea's first bid was 7 weeks ago. Stones waited until 7 days before the windows closed to put his request in. The player is not blameless at all.

Only possible way we can come out of this well now is to do the below.

"We've received a transfer request for John Stones. We've accepted it, and the player can move as long as our valuation of his contract is met.

The fee is £50m."
