John Stones transfer saga

I think this is about more than just john stones. Martinez has clearly told the board that under his regime and with a plan in mind, he simply won't sell players to then fund more players. If they go against this then I can honestly see him leaving.

I think that is nailed on.

If a bid for John is accepted against Bobby's wishes then he will be off.

I've seen a few people mention this. I think I'm missing something here. What happens next season that prices will be inflated?

Even more dough from the PL worldwide TV rights.

English clubs will be awash with extra dough and that will force prices up.

Hence people saying you will get more bang for your buck this year.

terry off at half-time wasnt a message from mourinho to stones was it?? eg - see you can play, im even taking my captain off ffs

I knew I liked that fella.

Some possible influence...

The new TV contract kicks in for the EPL. It's impossible to know for sure the impact, but I tend to think teams outside of the EPL will do whatever they can to take advantage.

Unless you know the status/length and all of our potential targets contracts and other clubs purchases in their positions then I would say that you shouldn't really assume that, that will be the case.

Obviously it's complicated and on a case-by-case basis, but when there's a huge shock of cash introduced into football from an outside source, values all over go screwy. It's inevitable.

I'm enjoying sticking it to Chelsea and the Chelsea fans reading this thread.

The historical working class provincial club sticking it to the nouveau riche glory hunting Tory (probably) swines. It's a nice narrative.

Come back when you've won another 4 league titles. Yes, that's how many you are still behind despite the success your dodgy Russian billionaire has bought you.

It is a very wrong indication to the public and Evertonian.

Martinez has repeatly told Chelsea to f off. I just don't think we will give in this time given BK is under pressure.

And do you believe Martinez will get all the fees? I don't think so. We need to keep Stones to show our ambition and this club need to grow not standing still. According to the manager, this club do not need to sell.

I think you're placing too much emphasis on winning the battle for public perception. Sure, it helps put an end to banners being flown over the pitch, but in reality, all that matters is performance. Selling Stones for a ridiculous fee allows the club to increase its talent level and thus gives them a greater chance of success.
