He signed for Everton in December 1970, when we were reigning champions. Did anything surprise him early on in comparison to his previous clubs?

When he played for Everton, did he ever realistically expect to win anything with us?

He signed for us shortly after we won the title in 1970, and stayed for 7 seasons, during which we came very close to winning it again in 1975, and nearly won the League Cup in 1977.

How surprised was he that it took a further 7 years after he left before we won our next trophy?

He didn't play in any of the three League Cup finals in 1977. What were the circumstances surrounding David Lawson playing first team football at that time instead of him? Does he regret not playing at Wembley in the first game?

Would he have been prepared to get himself wet and a bit muddy for that Terry McDermott chip in the 77 semi? The one where Dave Lawson stood three yards in front of a huge puddle in the six yard box so as not to get wet and allowed himself to be chipped!!

Lawson played because as bad as he was, he was better than Dia Davies , my most hated player ever to wear a blue shirt in over forty odd years of supporting the team, the Rod Bellfit , Nyarko of goalkeepers ,made Richard wright look like Gordon Banks in comparison.

We've had several worse than Dai, mate. Including lawson, wright, gerrard, baardsen, et al.

Now if you'd said Geoff Nulty...............

first Everton player i really disliked, must be like your first love you never forget it .
met him along with the team coming home from Chelsea when i was a kid, on the train home, didn't help matters either, arrogant to say the least.
Nulty was just sort of inoffensively [Poor language removed] not enough to make your blood boil.
what was that old joke about Davies being scared to come out for balls as he was scared of crosses?

Off-topic like, but I remember me eldest brother telling me that (Ste) Homer & Mike Lyons stopped him from chinning Andy King (God rest him) on the way home from west ham(?) on the train for being uppity with him. Didn't like him (King) much for that, but respected him as a player.

From what I remember of Dai (And I was only a bairn meself) he was better that Lawson. Just my opinion, of course - I was only 5-6 when he left.

to sum it up mate Lawson played 120 odd games for us at the same time as Davies was here , who played about 80 in seven years and left to join the mighty Wrexham they were both rubbish.

I don't disagree, mate. Neither of them were a patch on George Wood - and he wasn't exactly the greatest.
