John Stones transfer saga

We shouldn't sell this season purely for the reason that if we do now the other top clubs know we arnt willing to stand firm on our stance (look at the RS with Suarez which would have shown city they wouldn't budge on Sterling's valuation)

The club from the start should have put a £45 mil price tag on his head and said "meet it by the start of the season" to give us time to get good replacements in or its not for sale at any price.

Hopefully Martinez holds the board to account. It is increasingly worrying though how no business is being done by ourselves.

Stones has not handed in a transfer request
Bobby has said he is not for sale
Give him a new contract to reflect his loyalty and new market worth.
He is our most prized asset on the pitch why would the club not want to give him a new contract if he is not for sale and the player has not handed in a transfer request.
I think the question needs to be asked over and over again

MUST
NOT
SELL

And you know this how sir?

Because clearly Chelsea pay higher wages than we can afford and after having 2 bids rejected Stones and his agents have shown no desire to force through a move. If it was about his income they'd have either initiated contract negiotions already with Everton or tried to force the move through to Chelsea.

It's common football practice as well you know Sir.

The current contract held by John Stones is a critical feature in this affair.
Yes, he has a long term contract and there is obviously no buy out clause.
However, it is fair to assume that the money earned by John Stones is a lot less than what he could expect given his current status as one of the top young talents in football.

I would have thought that at least the club should be talking to him about a contract, about increasing his salary, even if it simply an add-on to his current contract.
John Stones will not stay at Everton for the next four years on his current contract...that is certain.
Speaking on Thursday, Martinez said: ''I have said before the player is not for sale and that is the end of it.
