John Stones transfer saga

He is not for sale.

The club have said it.....the manager has said it.

The key issue is whether he himself wants to go to Chelsea (with all respect to Declan McManus).

In that case the club will probably move him on.

Everyone's for sale at a price. The same board said Rooney wasn't either.

The current contract held by John Stones is a critical feature in this affair.
Yes, he has a long term contract and there is obviously no buy out clause.
However, it is fair to assume that the money earned by John Stones is a lot less than what he could expect given his current status as one of the top young talents in football.

I would have thought that at least the club should be talking to him about a contract, about increasing his salary, even if it simply an add-on to his current contract.
John Stones will not stay at Everton for the next four years on his current contract...that is certain.

That was before being told by a very reliable source (not anyone on here/previously on here) that things have changed. But things might change again, and he might be wrong. I hope so.

EDIT: Nothing's actually "changed" as far as I'm aware, but the first post was just my "uneducated" opinion on it. The second is just relaying what I've heard.

Fair enough, hope your source is wrong ;)

We shouldn't sell him for any price now, it's far too late. If we keep him and add 3 players, and keep up Saturdays form we can have a very good season.

If we are going to sell him for a huge fee next summer it needs to be right at the start of the window so we have a couple of months to spend the money wisely. Not after the season has started ffs.

It's simple if he is not for sale given a him a new contract to reflect his mkt value.....

why the delay from the club if he is not going anywhere?
Look he is under contract so why rock the boat in the transfer window just do it afterwards it would make us look cheap as his agent would rock the boat your offering him the key and reason to move if you attempt it now!

Read my post again mate...the bit that said his new market value.

I read it - the answer remains the same. We offered him a contract based on our valuation of the player just one year ago; nothing has changed.

If we offered a new contract every time a club makes a bid, teams would be making bids for all our players all the time to bankrupt us. It just wouldn't make sense.

We have the security we need with the contract length, and the player can't say he should be paid more given he agreed terms just 12 months ago on his current deal.

Because like every club we work to a budget, we won't know what's left in the budget until we've secured all our incoming transfers.

When the windows closed they'll be in a better position to offer Stones a pay rise and still be able to keep within the budget. It's a very basic business practice.

As quoted previous if the magic 35 m is hit then we will accept and leave the decision up to stones, bearing in mind he has 4 years remaining and without asking for a move he will be entitled to a loyalty bonus - hence we put the decision on him.
