John Stones transfer saga

The comments section on that is pure gold. Everything wrong with modern football.
Pantomime stuff.
"Not even worth 10 million"
"The boy wouldn't improve us"
"How dare scruffy Everton want to hold onto their best players and demand a high price for one of the best center backs we've seen here in an absolute age and a player who is not only home grown but class on and off the pitch with the ability to be a world beater "

One Chelsea fan spewed up an opinion about how he's not as good as Cahill. When called out on it, he said "I don't watch Everton play a lot"

Well maybe try forming an opinion after watching the lad you're slagging off?

According to the Talksport Merseyside correspondent this AM - 'Beeky' (Mark Beecroft?) - it now appears that from 'inside sources' Stones is 'keen on a move to Chelsea' and if they offer £35m then it's a goer! Sick of it - if the lad is not for sale at any price then why doesn't the club (rather than just the Manager) issue a formal denouncement of the rumours and speculation and simply say 'no more'? But then again, I am simply being naive because we all know every club and player has their price and the aspirations of the fans will always take second place. FWIW, I think that Stones would be making a grave error of judgement going to Chelsea, a team made up entirely of individuals who are there simply to do a job. At Everton, we appear to be growing a young team with (that word again) 'potential' to do great things and Stones would be pivotal to this development. Alas......

That's TalkSport journo language for "I read on Twitter" mate.

Not for beecroft unfortunately. Extremely well connected to both clubs on merseyside. He hinted weeks ago that Everton were looking to sell because they hadn't said he wasn't for sale

Beecroft will be connected from his radio city days, and think he worked for BBC Merseyside as well.

But, since a few weeks ago Martinez has said last week he is not for sale. Then again, this is Everton so anything can happen.

Graham beacroft on talksport this morning "I understand John stones is keen to sign for Chelsea "

Mike Parry - was sheepishly saying the same for the last 2 weeks. Must be Talksport's editorial decision to big up the 'Stones to Chelsea' rumour. But they are peeing in the wind as Stones wont go to Chelsea.

What more can Everton do, Martinez has said Stones is not for sale and that should be that. Still the newspapers will run stories just to get more readers whether the story is true or not !!!!. I would personally give Stones a new 7 year contract with a buyout clause of £100 million.

It fits the narrative just now though, doesn't it?

The Champions are in crisis, Terry is subbed, perhaps finished.

Where's the replacement? At Everton.
