John Stones transfer saga

He didn't appear to be a player who looked like he was looking for a move either yesterday or last Sunday, certainly not in the way Lescott basically gibbed us all off publicly at Goodison against Arsenal.

There's been none of that from him.

I don't think he would do it, very weirdly enough I'm in Canada for 6 weeks (fume as I'll miss City), and a Barnsley fan has been round who knew him as a youngster and his family and was '220% sure' he would never push for the transfer.

220?

Hang on, didn't Shearer turn down winning league titles and Champions League trophies with Man United in favour of joining a smaller club? And he's recommending a player do the opposite?

Pipe down you dirty elbowing waste of space.

Sometimes I don't think Shearer knows what he's saying.

He got his own club relegated. Says it all.

Can they not see he is worth far more on the pitch than in the bank? I'm being naive again aren't I?

The 'not for sale' message issued gives me hope.

Everything's for sale ...... at a price and that hasn't been reached yet. Luke Shaw at £30m? Would make Stones very "cheap" at £34m
IF we can hang on to him until at least Euro 2016 then I can see him being worth £40m plus ....

As with 90% of MOTD pundits he's very anti-us and can't resist an opportunity for a crafty dig.
As with 90% of MOTD pundits he's never achieved anything as a manager / coach

Listening to the comments for the other games.

They're basically supporting 'their mates' all the way through.

This says it all.

Shearer doesn't much like us. The other Kopite beaut is just a beaut.

Lineker is just weak.

He's the worst of all - sitting on the PR fence dishing out the odd Everton based platitude to make sure we all don't boycott Walkers crisps.

Since when was MOTD (a highlights show) a mouthpiece for pundits like Shearer (who turned down a move to Utd lest we forget) to lament over how good a move it would be for such a player to such a team?? Honestly gob-smacked by that

Can never recall them doing it before, its disgraceful that they've joined the campaign to sell one of our players, simply shouldn't be allowed. Hope Roberto is compiling all the comments with a view to getting people punished, he'll be seething.

And as someone has already mentioned, they were all leaping to defend Sterling saying he's been "badly advised" and should stay at the RS.

Never once saying he'll be playing with Yaya Toure and Silva than Henderson and Allen and fighting for titles.

Knowing the way that England managers and in particular the current one he will revert to proven and established partnerships in competive games and I particular t he finals themselves meaning that yes Stones will go as part of the squad but he will not be a starter as I suspect Cahill, Jags, Smalling and possibly Jones are ahead of him meaning in RHs thinking

People really shouldn't be counting on him going to the Euros and his value rising for its more likely The tournament will have zero value in relation to his value

May have missed this earlier in thread but did they repeat Shearer's statements about John Stones this morning? Seriously hope we were straight on the phone to them last night and an official complaint has been made. That was so far off their remit. Shearer has gone from being pointless as a pundit to sounding warped. It is difficult not to sound paranoid about editorial bias from the relatively trivial scheduling of matches (would any other team have been on first ahead of Chelsea and Man U because they won 4 2), to last nights 'tapping up'. I know people have to be careful what they imply but Shearer's statement went unchallenged and was so weighted towards a situatiion they have been told isn't happening. I think there is more behind it than an opinion. Why did Lineker even ask that question on a programme that is known for not rocking the boat? As people have pointed out there is no precedent for this with other players, many of whom have implied a desire to go.

Don't want to start conspiracies but a general bias towards the bigger clubs doesn't cut it for me. The tone of Shearer's comments last night were too extreme, (John Terry a better role model than Jags???) and there is too many ways for ex-players and journos to make money from the game without us knowing, too many betshop owners going onto the likes of talksport talking as though they are pundits. Not much you can prove but why is it not out there...Shearer is terrible at his job anyway..predictable, smug, lacking in insight...so why are we putting up with him making a statement that goes againt the rules of the game??

The whole thing is leaving an incredibly bitter taste. We need to get them to issue an apology, it simply isn't acceptable. Every man and his dog has tried to sell john to Chelsea now.
