McCarthy and Mirallas Sign New Deals

The RS dominated sports media/Sky/Talksport set out their close season agenda, that Everton are falling apart and players can't wait to jump ship. They have been peddling 'McCarthy to Spurs and Mirallas to West Ham' for months and 'it is only a matter of time before Stones signs for Chelsea' garbage. They will be highly disappointed with the news that James and Kev are staying, so will probably ramp up the 'Stones to anyone' hysteria more.

Mirallas clearly has no better offers, could work to Everton's advantage. Maybe this will make him knuckle down and realise he's not the player he could be and work harder.

Get it signed or do one back to a some pony Greek club as they are the only ones who want you.....or you could go for European football at the mighty hammers.........oh wait!

To be honest, I recken. He got a few offers

Maybe, just maybe, MCCarthy has bought into the new, young and progressive philosophy which Martinez is beginning to peddle. He may also be touted as the next Skipper as Jags only has two more decent years. The team's average age must have dropped exponentially since Distin and Alcaraz left and with the trenche of young players coming through (hopefully) then both he and Mirallas will be seen as pivotal to the development of the team. We can only surmise but I really believe this is fast becoming a close knit group of young players who see Roberto's vision and want to be part of something good and great in the years to come. Keep Stones - who might also be thinking along similar lines - and with two or three more additions then the future may not be as bleak as we were beginning to fear. I know some 'no mark' once said 'you don't win anything with kids' but as long as Martinez starts blooding some of our youngsters over the coming couple of seasons instead of continually farming them out on loan then not only will they develop the along the 'Everton way' but it serves only to increase the squad strength. Being an Evertonian doesn't lend itself to positivity but I am beginning to think my glass is no longer less than half-empty!

fenerbache "want" him according to papers which are probably jarg. They're in Europa atm. they have been bought by a pretty wealth guy recently i believe though so they're looking to spend (RVP, Nani, Kjaer). Kev will sign though

I meant them, not a Greek side. He's hardly being courted by Europe's elite! He needs to buckle down and make a name for himself in the premier league, he has the ability and would be one of the first names on the team sheet every week if his head is right.

It's up to him basically and if he has the heart for it anymore.

Did Spurs ever make an official approach? I doubt it. Same as Berahino who we have been linked with by the media all window, WBA even announced there had been no bid.

Just agents doing their jobs (very well).

Not saying i didn't want him at WHL but i dont think it was ever really a goer.

I think you would have been interested but the player wasn't, as it would have been a move sideways to a club that, let's face it, has a reputation for buying players and squandering them spectacularly - especially midfielders.

I think with McCarthy and Mirallas the truly big offers just didn't materialise. With Mirallas inparticular, that will be the reason he stays. With McCarthy, I don't think there was ever a chance he was going as he would have commanded a much bigger fee than the stupid ones bandied around by the media.
