John Stones transfer saga

Townsend is a strange one for me...was perceived as England's saviour not so long back...has his decline been so bad that he's joining the Pulis brigade?

he's just not very good. he scored 2 or 3 goals. any winger worth their salt can cause problems when they're an unknown quantity, give them a couple of weeks when they've been properly analysed and that's when the cream will rise

i genuinely don't believe we would accept anything but silly money (£40m+) unless Stones himself forces the issue with an official transfer request.

Would he lose a lot of respect from the fans if he did ask for a transfer, can Everton block his request, if so how?.

They couldn't stop him putting in a request.

But they can turn it down being as he us contracted.

The reality is, though, once a transfer request comes in there is no point in doing owt but screw the best deal we can.

Keeping hold of an unhappy player us never a good thing.

Yes, he never was much good.

I could never understand the hype during his brief spell as the next big thing.

whats wrong with Distins comments ? In the grand scale of things we are no longer a big club and its delusional to think otherwise. We haven't won a trophy in 20 years (MLS all star cup doesn't count...) and we don't have a big global fanbase. We are big in regards to history of the English game but to younguns and people abroad we are not seen as a big club. We have had zero success in the premier league era bar a one off 4th place which led to nothing.

You all know its true, why get angry at a player for saying what we all know ?

I don't mind the "big club" part, just the timing of his comments. Did Distin really need to comment on the type of club Stones should be playing at in the midst of Chelsea's pursuit? Stones has said it's his ambition to compete for trophies here, Martinez has said we need to hold onto players like Stones in order to compete for trophies. Whether or not that's a realistic possibility, Distin's comments fly in the face of what both have them have said.

If Distin said this during the season, I wouldn't think twice about it and would mostly agree. But he said this at a time when Chelsea have been doing everything they can to turn Stones' head. Toward the end of his comments he mentioned Stones hasn't played a full season yet and has more to learn, he could have clarified that "after a full season here I think he will have lots of clubs after him" or something.

@davek @RFUS @MoutsGoat @Tubey

I TOLD YOU!

I TOLD YOU DISTIN IS AN UTTER BEAUT.

Despise him.

Distan putting the boot in now saying one day he end up at a BIG club well does no say much for him as he was with us for an age!

He's an utter bell Distin

The day we got rid of him - I cheered.

Traitorous little melt.

He should stick to dressing up as milkmen to try and seduce married women. All he's any good at.
