For me McCarthy is great at breaking play up, but offers nothing going forward. What ever happened to midfielders who could defend and attack?

I actually hate Kone and Naismith, 2 of the most limited players yet are bum boys of the manager especially the latter.

Barry and Robles are not good enough to be in the starting 11 either. Only a pre season game but it's annoying how it's the same old from last season:

Barry and Naismith starting
No playmaker
Playing with 1 winger
Clueless in attack

We just need more creativity in midfield in general. McCarthy, Barry and Cleverly could probably pass the ball safely all day long but it's so rare they show some incisive play.
