Still a player in his prime is not going to swap club captain and player of the season for being backup to Jags and Stones. We must be going to three at the back, or he's really good and Martinez thinks he could displace Jags (no one's displacing Stones).

Good points but surely there are other clubs in for him that could guarantee him a starting place? I think he's a good player but there's no way he's walking straight into our first XI over Jagielka or Stones. There's a few Palace fans on twitter saying he will but they're deluded, bless them.

Yep, they were adamant all summer and took a lot of abuse over it.

We wont go three at the back because it'll leave us with only Galloway as cover, so we'll have to go out and buy another one.

Stones, Jagielka, Dann & Galloway will be our four centre backs. We wont play three at the back, if we do it'll be the odd game in the Cup.

Sounds like Roberto has finally acknowledged a few home truths here, nothing wrong with having a defender's defender who might prevent a repetition of some of the awful goals we conceded from within the six yard box last season.

He's tall and can defend, but you're doing him a disservice here. He's very comfortable on the ball. It doesn't surprise me at all that Martinez likes him TBH
