Keeper is a very important part of the team and although were not linked with anyone else i would suggest we should be looking at players in our core group age range of 19-26.

Additionally id say this type of signing should be a big money signing which as much as possible 'guarantees' us points like De Gea and beforehand Schmeical have done for UTD.

Great strikers win you games. Great keepers win you titles/trophies, especially in this league where commanding the area is important.
The season we finished 4th Martyn was magnificent. Southall the last trophy winning keeper.

Gomez does look a good prospect but I've only ever seen him play at RCB or right back, we have Jags, Stones and Browning already for that side so as good as he potentially could be he's not what we need at the mo.
Also given the age of what we have do we really need another kid?

Probably need a 25-28 age player when we sign our next centre half not another teenager.

Great post. I totally agree. Our keepers alone must have cost us a good 10-15 points last season.
I think investing good money in a top keeper may have to wait until next Summer though as there are too many needs to address with the outfield this Summer unfortunately.

True.
Howard hasn't been awful, he has served us well and perhaps had we not had 3 key horror injuries prior to the 09 FA Final he may have won the FA Cup. But the fact is he isn't winning us games consistently, not like De Gea or Courtois did last season. I think Southampton home was his only stand out performance.

So I would like to see us invest in a top draw keeper. Is Tom Heaton that man? He did well last season but I am not sure he is of the level of the 2 above mentioned or Lloris at Spurs who I think is excellent.

assume the independent is more reliable??

Everton have made inquiries about Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, with Tim Howard's future at Goodison Park now unclear.
Howard’s ex-wife’s return to the United States with the couple’s children has created the uncertainty about the 36-year-old’s intentions and the quality of Heaton’s performances in Burnley’s relegation season are thought to have impressed Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
Howard has always been clear about the significance of his family, taking a year away international football last August to spend more time with his children and it is unclear whether he will now look to a future beyond Merseyside. Heaton has two years left to run on his contract at Turf Moor.

Yep, the Independent is normally pretty accurate with it's rumours.
Doesn't mean he'll come here of course, just gives it a bit of credence.

Just splashed out £94 quid on the keeper kit as Martinez said there won't be any change in keepers. They best offer me a replacement if he does go !!

Feel sorry for you mate because those prices are outrageous but if you've honestly only bought it based on what the manager said months ago about transfers you want your brain feeling.

Didnt think anyone actually got Howard on there kit.

You're always best waiting before getting names and numbers on kits until the squad and numbers are confirmed
