I am staying in Donegal town tonight. For those of you unsure of your Irish Geography Killybegs(home of Seamus Coleman)is in the very North West of the country only about 20k from Donegal Town , whereas I am from Cork which is in the deep south somewhere between 300k-400k apart.
I took a trip out to Killybegs as I confidently expected Seamus to be waiting in the street to greet me..he wasn't there. Probably was there earlier but maybe thought I wasn't coming after all.

Apart from Seamus Coleman Killybegs is best known as a fishing port and sure enough the boats were all "parked " for the night.

However, in the square, near the Tara hotel I witnessed a very heartwarming sight.
A string of flags were stretched out across the square on a line. There was the Irish flag(tricolour), the Donegal flag(yellow and green), a green and white chequered flag which could be Celtic but is more likely the colours of a local team and hanging proudly were three spotless Everton flags blowing gently in the summer breeze.
No other premiership team represented....good to see.

Mustard mate...Mustard.

Obviously because of Seamus like but this is a good example of how having a certain player can attract potential supporters who then stay on for life. I'd wager a lot of our Aussie fans signed up because of TC and are now hooked.

Last time I was in Donegal town you could not go into a pub without hearing Seamus' name being on the lips of the all the clientele sitting at the bar.

Don't know what's more surprising about that. The Everton flags or a gentle summer breeze in Killybegs :-)

That's probably Seamus's family home, the green and white flag are the club colours of St Catherine's Fc. Seamus played for them in his early days, they actually won the Donegal league this year. Your a long way from Cork. The roles are reversed for me, I'm a Donegal man living in Cork myself.

Shame on you........ :celebrate:

He flew The Script in to play at his wedding, apparently. Beats having the crappy mobile disco from the bloke in the corner of the lounge at the pub like.
