Summer Transfer Window - Credible Rumours Only Please

Bringing in players like Payet and Deloufeu would bring out the best of Barkley too. Surely it can't help having fairly limited players around him in terms of movement and real quality.

It's crazy how those two signings and a CB could really transform us from playing football which can only be described as AIDs for almost every game last season, to playing potentially fast, flowing, attacking football.

Get it done quickly Bobby please.
Spot on. Would get me seriously excited. Signing them with no one leaving + a good start to the season then there is no reason why we can't challenge for top 4 next season. I'm being serious aswell.

I imagine £20m would get us both players which would be incredible business and their wages wouldn't be too silly either (Payet 60k-70k and Del 40k at a wild guess).

Considering the prices players cost these days it's the best way for us to spend our budget.

I really hope we manage to keep Garbutt too.

Think we'd still need a quality back up striker to rotate with rom for top four aspirations. But I concur geri and payet would improve our chance creation no end.

Reads and ignores.

Oh OK, I'm not totally ignoring it. What follows isn't particularly aimed at you, they're mostly generic.
For the umpteenth time, here's how it works.

  • Rumour reported in a vaguely credible source recently ( lets say the last month ) - it goes in here
  • Older rumours and stuff of the ilk "heh, he might want to play here" goes in the speculation thread
  • Rumour gains credence and really looks like a goer, gets it's own thread
Who decides where the boundaries are ? The mod team do, not you.

If someone's asked by a mod to provide a recent source then people shouldn't take it personally, they should just provide it

If someone thinks someones posting a rumour in here which doesn't have a recent source then it's OK to POLITELY ask the poster to provide some evidence, a link being the obvious way, but don't jump all over them and play the ref, that's our job. Don't get a satisfactory answer ? Report it and we'll get round to looking at it when life permits.

We'll review how it's going and might tweak it a bit, but essentially, that's how it's going to be in the short term. We might even have a poll later to see what people think, but this thread isn't the place to voice any criticisms of how things are.

There've been enough words typed about the whys and wherefores. If it hasn't sunk in yet, it probably never will.
I understand that the mods do however you don't know which will fall foul before or after you post. I suppose its just a few teething problems and eventually we'll get the hang of it.

Yeah. Garbutt could save us from spending millions on Baines' replacement, if he is good enough that is.

Oh yeah I agree but with our budget, the way to get a quality back up striker would either be on a free or a loan-to-buy. Remy maybe?
