They're not though mate are they?

I mean, let's be realistic

Next season, they'll do well to finish 4th and maybe have a cup run

Chelsea, Arsenal, City and United will be fighting for the title next season

If Milner tightens up their midfield and Ings can grab 15 goals, that gives them a chance to finish in the last Champs League slot
Aye it was a sly dig at their opinion of themselves lid.

Rodgers is in a terrible position, as you say. His authority is now non-existent. Even the support have turned on him. It'll only get worse. Surely he's decided that the name of FSGs game is constructive dismissal and that he wont react to provocation in the shape of his assistant being sacked (giving him the benefit of the doubt on that one...which might not be too realistic!) and he's holding out for the big pay off compensation package?

They're signing players still, but they could be okaying them with a potential successor. Who knows. But it defo has the feel of a zombie regime about it now this Rodgers one. I really cant see it going on too much longer.

I honestly think he's gonna stay. I think he's just been put in his place by the yanks.

For all intents and purposes, the fraud wants to be a manager. Well, the fraud shouldn't have took the job for the reasons Roberto jibbed them. The yanks have basically given him a slap, and ruthlessly reminded him that he's only the head coach.

All in all, it's a pretty shambolic looking hierarchy over there.

Mentally, Rodgers will have gone past the point of no return, unless he really is stupid. He knows the fans wanted him out and that FSG don't trust him. His concern, as you say, is now all about how does he get a payoff and try to retain some kind of credibility. He should have walked and at least shown himself to be a man of principle, he will now be seen as a weak manager with a 'throw anybody under the bus' yellow streak...........

You're not asking much there Mikey, Milner's certainly not the type of player to tighten up a midfield although that's hat I expect them o ask him to do. We got a brief insight as to how bad a Milner / Henderson partnership could be on Sat. Long gone are the Alonso / Mascherano days <breathes a sigh of relief>.

Ings 15 goals, can't see it at all myself, no where near it and he'll only be replacing the goals they've lost this summer with there leading scorer getting off to the US, taking his goals form midfield with him.

They were obviously after a constructive dismissal and getting out of paying him the full amount. Rodgers should have jumped at that chance of getting some money and being able to move onto pastures new. He will only sully his reputation now as it's a borderline impossible job.

There is every chance that they are just waiting until Klopp is ready to leave his sabbatical. My feelings are FSG wanted him out and tried to move him on, but didn't bank on the lack of dignity he would show in hanging around. I also think they'd have put Kenny back in charge for 6 months until Klopp was ready.

A zombie regime is a good way to describe it. Modern footballers smell weakness. Look how quickly it went wrong for Moyes when United's players realised he was weak. It's not a particularly nice part of modern sport. But players like Sterling etc are going to try and exploit that weakness.

It has all the hallmarks of the Hodgson regime. A summer of free transfers and "smart" English signings (the likes of Konchevsky) seem very similar to signings like Ings. Milner is similar to Cole. They were in a relegation dogfight and 19th in the league when FSG took over last time. I can see them really struggling again this season. There is a chronic lack of experience and character in that squad.

Yes this exactly. Nobody will want to work with Rodgers after this as his staff. Players will not want to work with him either. I also think when he goes you'll be hearing the snakes close to Gerrard getting ready to stick the boot in. I have no idea why he chose to stay, its either an act of utter stupidity of extreme arrogance.

Even with the best will in the world he's onto a loser. As a best case scenario, he gets 100million to spend, he's hardly shown he's capable of cracking the top 4. His reputation will be tarnished. The reality is much worse for him. He's lost his support network, key members of the squad and is replacing them with freebies.

We need to be careful not to go down the same route in regards to certain subjects on here, such as the manager

Free debate must exist

Yes I agree with agree with that entirely. I think debate and difference of opinion is essential and should be welcomed. The main argument seems to be that layers of fans will never change their mind. However I am not sure stopping the debate really stops their influence, in many ways it magnifies it as they can take martyrdom status.

This isn't to accuse GOT of anything. The standard of the debate on here is miles ahead of RAWK. While feisty the debates and Polls on Martinez last season I thought were fantastic. They were really interesting in helping to trace when fans backed him and when fans turned. That is valuable and interesting information. They were often quite angry and passionate, but so they should be, we were badly underperforming, I'd expect nothing less! I don't say this as someone who wanted Martinez out, I backed him in every poll, but those who wanted him out had every right to voice their opinion.

He'll stay, but for how long? My guess is he's prepared to ride things out (we all know how hard faced he is) and then get FSG to fire him to trigger his compensation package.

Barring a miracle, I cant see any way out of this for Rodgers...not even in the short term (next 4-6 months).
