The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

"The only condition is one we think is perfectly reasonable - that the new owner has to want to, and must be able to, take the club forward.

"The question remains - why haven’t we found the investor? And the simple truth over the past two years is not many deals are being done; it appears there aren’t many buyers.

"Over that period, the following clubs have changed hands; Fulham, Charlton Athletic, Leeds United, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Sounds reasonable. I bet there have been potential buyers but they couldn't guarantee they would pour money into transfer kitties/stadium development. Most buyers would be looking to make a quick profit, this won't suit Everton. Not sure how Fulham, Charlton Athletic, Leeds United, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday are doing but I don't see them in the Premiership.

And the current custodians have invested how much into transfers and stadium development???

I'll give you a clue, it's less than a pound.

Last summer was a decent net spend, but I understand that money didn't come from our board.

They can't, or won't, invest any of their own money. But they can't, or won't, find anyone who can. This is the conundrum our club has. But I believe if the board were actively turning away fair offers of investment there'd be loud whispers about it among the business community, which would leak to the media and we'd hear about it.

Or have there been such leaks and I've missed mention of it in the thread?

It was only that as the money had been saved up by the manager (Anichebe sale , Jelavic sale etc).

The stadium is where any external investment must be directed. Priority 1 as this will generated more money for player acquisitions. It also increases the value of the club. If they are unwilling to even do that they shouldn't be here.

I agree but are they unwilling or merely unable?

If they are unable. They shouldn't be here. As they are damaging the value of their own investment!

We're at the stage now of either getting the stadium sorted and progressing. Or not and really seeing the damage caused.

Due to football finance regulation.

That's my prediction and I stand by it.

Bill hasn't been seen for a good while now. What a coincidence that we've been doing woefully and he's done another great disappearing act! You can bet your bottom dollar he'd have been all over the media if we'd have gotten to the quarters/semis of the Europa League.

I thought that.

Not at the end of season awards and then Elstone publishes those controversial comments.

I am not cynical but that looks more than coincidental.

Its unacceptable really.

Those comments of Elstones were unacceptable. More so as this will damage/inhibit our ability to transfer top quality players medium term.

Its going to lead to us being less competitive. A rich club. Unable to spend it on quality players.

That would suit this board I suspect. This was why I'm so annoyed by Elstone's comments.

@davek

This will allow them to peddle a 'Poor little Everton' lie. When we are one of the richest 30/40 clubs in the world.

But they can say we have no funds to buy players. When the club is swollen with tv cash (but the regs say we can only spend it on stadia !) as the commercial/stadium revenues are so poor. (due to poor commercial management).

But if they're unable they should be looking for new investment, which is what they are doing. If they shouldn't be here (which in this money-era they probably shouldn't) then what's the best way for them to let go? Straight up for-sale status? I'd be wary of the sharks in that case.

He's 70 years old and has been looking somewhat frail of late. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt there.

Its got to the point now - that they shouldn't just be looking. They should just go.

We could end up like a formula 1 team unable to compete the way they are going here.

Kenwright was there yesterday but has missed a few games lately due to illness. No one knows what the illness is or how serious but he's definitely not been well as he simply never misses a game unless he's unwell.

Just go? Who'll run the club? Who'll pay everyone's wages?

Pretty sure we'd get suspended from the Premier League if the owners just go and leave us rudderless.

Stop being silly. Kenwright and co. should lower their asking price and just leave.
