Aiden McGeady: The Answer to all of our problems

Not a McGeady fan never will be, even more so after the FA cup. He would be a good player in Scotland, or in the championship. Not good enough for a team hoping for top 6. If he is getting any game here next season then our ambitions can't be for Europe, but it all boils down to whether we can afford players or not.

He's a good impact player off the bench as we've seen today and a few times last season against Fulham and Cardiff. Unfortunately for the most part Martinez seems to start him or not play him at all. I'd definitely keep him for next season.

So you're saying he's on Barkley's level? as he has 2 goals and 2 assist from 28 games to McGeady's 16.

Listen this is not a slap at Barkley because he is younger, they are different players and I like Barkley and want him to come good. - But McGeady has produced more than Barkley this year in less minutes. McGeady is prone to mistakes and have seen a couple dodgy efforts in not tracking back - But I have seen more of that from Barkley in the middle of the pitch... I think he is a good impact sub. He certainly can make something happen on his own. Much more so than someone like Naismith.

People just have their personal whipping boys - like me - (after Neville left, who most thought was dreadful the last 2+ years) I thought Osman was done, I liked him as an impact sub but not starting - Still think he is better in that role but not having him or Pinnear for long stretches has shown how important someone with their skills are. I'll at least admit I was wrong about him..

Good enough for what though? The bench? He's probably the level of a squad player we're going to get that's ok with not playing every week. It'd be great to get a Deulofeu level player to sit on the bench but that won't happen as they'll want playing time and either leave or kick up a stink.

Many folk on here think he could be heading for Celtic!

Our ambition was Europe last season and he was here getting game.

If he's isolated 1v1 with a full back, he is very good at getting himself half a yard to get a cross in. If he has any more players in front of him to try and skin he has a habit of taking a few touches too many and running out of space.

For us, I think McGeady is a last 15/20 minute impact sub against tired defenders or a starter against lower league teams.
