I did not vote Tory, and nor do I expect to in the future, but I honestly hope they make a decent fist of it.

I hope that if austerity is to remain the weapon of choice - as it would have under Miliband - then they achieve their aims and goals of getting the deficit down.

I do not want us to leave the EU, but I hope that they can bring about a better settlement for Britain and then make a strong case for us to remain.

While the economy is a potent political weapon, I do not want it to collapse just so that we can make a point.

I'm not a unionist, but I hope that they can stem a tide of nationalism that can become ugly very quickly by improving the constitutional relationship with Scotland.

Basically, you're not my guy, but good luck DC!

Nobody wants him to go full Tory on us - it'd be great if he did a good job, and reasonable minded people would applaud him for it.

Problem is I don't think his idea of a good job is the same as what a lot of the working class would call a good job!

Not only that, he's got the EU referendum to overcome, he's got a wafer thin majority which, knowing the Tory backbenchers, could evaporate the moment they have a tiff with him, so he's got no choice but to be more right wing than Thatcher to appease them. And then he's got the Scots to deal with constantly, and I have little doubt mass protests are on the way too.

It'd be a miracle if he can pull of even a somewhat decent job here. The smart bet is on a return to the Thatcher era, which I'm sure some Tories will actually be happy about.

Well on a good note, well done to all in the thread for some good post on both sides without getting it locked.
other bright notes mcvey getting beat , Balls getting beat and the lib dems getting hammered, and hopefully the labour party gets a fookin grip of itself and looks to its supporters for what they want not tell them what some cosy little cabal at the top think is important.
Miliband has gone should have went at least a year ago and everyone outside the bubble knew deep down.
I can look forward to a nice redundancy check soon I think.
And finally the Scottish are finally seen as the enemy by the English so its now a two way thing instead of one way

Who are the scroungers?

Tax avoidance is not available to someone on PAYE (Which is the vast majority of the working-class) ad is also not illegal.

People who don't work and just claim benefits their whole life as if the world owes them a living.

Seems to be a lot of talk about Dan Jarvis becoming the next Labour leader he's a ex army man became an MP in 2011 so relatively new to politics .

Could be a good move to sweep away all the old Blair/Brownites.

Is it just me or does Salmond look a bit pervy in this photo.......

Oh - like the disabled, you mean? Or those who sign on because they simply cannot get a job? Don't forget the conditionality attached to claiming JSA & other benefits.........
