I hate to say I told you so, but they way they do it here is to own the working class rags and bleat on about how bad Labor are, despite the fact that they just make up whatever they can to tow the Murdoch line.

Because it is actually Murdoch who calls the shots you do realise by now.

Odds are he'll be dead before the next election - I'll leave others to decide whether that's a bad thing or not.

Quite simply, Labour weren't smart enough.

Blair, for all his faults, managed to appeal to the centre, which is where elections are won. Sadly, I doubt the lesson will be learnt. Without a major downturn in the economy I think we're looking at another 10 years of Tory rule rather than 5.

It almost sounds as if you want an economic crash.

Surely a prosperous economy is good, regardless of the party in charge? If they're delivering, I don't care who it is.

Even if it is essentially built on the destruction of the most vulnerable in society?

Bold part - very much the Tory mantra towards anyone and anything not themselves it seems! It's cropped up often tonight.

I also think the difference in quality of Blair/Brown versus Miliband/Balls was a huge factor......

Lets be honest, its all the Scots fault.

I'm pretty sure Braveheart and Trainspotting has been shown every evening darn sarf followed by that poster of Alex Salmond taking English cash and vote Tory.

To be frank, it's the anti-Scotland campaign from the Tories that caused this. Terrorised the scared little Englanders worried about their place in the world.

The EU referendum, if it comes to pass, is a massive variable for the Tories - they regress to childhood on this issue. Will be like feeding time at the Chester zoo monkey house.

Exactly how everyone should vote. Charity begins at home, not in the polling booth.

Obviously the needy and charity are two different things, but the concept is still the same. People should vote in their interests, not in the interests of others.

As for that last bit, that sounds seriously communist. Thankfully the majority of society doesn't agree with it.

What if you fell on hard times, were ill? or had a family member with a housing problem (caused by divorce for example, possibly at no fault) - don't you think that there should be a properly funded safety net and provision? Otherwise you end up with a situation similar to what exists in India, China or Brazil where without the ability to fund yourself you have nothing - is that what you really want?

The "common good" - seriously communist? How?

Yay, Clegg resigning coming up - this is going to be just fantastic.
And we know what will follow later.....

I'm behind Labour, but we all know Ed was not the right dude.

Burnham or Rotherham for me, but deffo not, never, Ed Balls.

Burnham is making the same mistake again - going to easy to break left wing mindsets for ideological reasons instead of practical reasons. I like the guy but, nationally, it'd be a disaster.

It should be Umunna, and every cabinet minister even around at the time of Blair/Brown should be swept away completely, and start again. Even if it means inexperience for 2020, they will still have a chance through pure energy of a new generation.
