What are you currently listening to?

@CahillsCornerFlag

Have you ever listened to any of Dustin Kensrue's (from Thrice) solo stuff? If so, what do you make of it?

I'm going to see him on Saturday but admittedly haven't listened to any of his solo stuff, I got tickets purely because I know he'll be playing a few Thrice songs.

He's more folky than you might think, but it works as I feel his vocals are better in his solo material.

His new one is great, and his debut was very good too (deep south twang to this one). In between he had a christmas album and a worship album which I can't say I've bothered with. It's as good as it's going to get without new Thrice, which seems quite likely in 2015. Someone I spoke to said that he played Come All Ye Weary and Milly, as well as Words on the Water, good choices them.

Not listening to it now but heard Mumford and Sons new one this morning. Apparently they've ditched the banjos and become a woeful Coldplay tribute act. And I'm not talking early years, I'm talking post conscious uncoupling dross era Coldplay.

Yep, they're the Thrice songs I saw on his most recent setlists. All boss songs. I imagine it'll be the same here in the UK. Incidentally, the gig I'm going to in Manchester will be his first ever solo gig in the UK, which is cool in itself.

Anyway, cheers. You too @Maxwell, I'll check out those albums before Saturday. Can't wait.

Shame I'm not still in manchester mate or I'd be at that gig too. Saw Thrice there a few years back now and caught dustins pick when he threw it into the crowd at the end, needless to say I felt like an absolute boss for doing so. They played helter skelter by the Beatles too.
