ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

They were talking about the Gnasher a moment ago in Talksport..
They pretty much agreed that he's talking rubbish and theres narcissistic touch innit

It's funny how he's trumpeting his own achievement in reaching a couple of semi finals this season after spending £250m+ on a squad that had won a trophy and got to the final of another 3 years ago, yet he's making that out as some sort of progress.

The owners won't be taken in so easily as the zombies that support them.

Looks like Steve Peters, their under achieving in-house psychologist, has thrown the rulebook away and in desperation told him to display fake trophies to practice holding real ones. No wonder they've now got a privacy screen at Melwood.

Red boss Brendan Rodgers has claimed he will bring success to Anfield "if I can get the tools" and said the club must be "forceful" in the transfer market this summer
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...iverpool-Forceful-Transfer-Market-For-Success

And there was me thinking he already had a squad full overpriced tools as it is?
He's right under the cosh now. It just gets worse and worse for Rodgers from this point on. There's no future for him at Anfield. He's complaining about not having the resources to do better than where they are right now (the owners who gave him £250M will be chuffed); the players being 'nearly men' who dont rise to the occasion (that'll help matters with a squad he's already fallen out with); having Liverpool pretty much where they should be (despite having been 2nd last season); casting the previous Dalglish managed period in a negative light (one that at least won a trophy).

I reckon all that bluster is him writing his application form for another job rather than a serious attempt to draw a line under a massively damaging season.

I would not be surprised at all if he's not at Liverpool next season.

So from what I can gather from that is -

He's had to spunk 250 million and in particular 100 million last year on potential. They are for the future and not for the present. So this summer he now needs another 100 million plus because they need players for starting 11. This man's an absolute genius and it all makes sense now that all the money he's spent wasn't wasted at all but is all on potential.

The only player I've ever seen in his tenure where I've thought I like the look of him is Can. The vast majority of them have been an absolute disaster. Long may Todgers reign continue

This is what Brendan sees when he looks in the mirror....

Ladies and Gentleman, here we have another candidate for our GIF/Picture hall of fame.

Make it happen MODS. ;)

Didn't they beat Swansea in the LC, the same Swansea who beat us? And they beat Crystal Palace in the FA cup who are 1 point behind the West Ham who beat us.

Take your Kopite based bias to another forum Colemole.

Guys ive got another one......... ;) We need dose walls dat melwood r get'n fitted lids.

Lol at big nose Thompson on The sky website:

"Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi , Gonzalo Higuain and Jackson Martinez would all fit the bill and provide better cover for Sturridge"

What has he been shoving up that hooter and cover for Sturridge mind, he needs to be kept away from sharp objects.

All four of those mentioned should listen to what Liverpool have to offer, then at the last minute refuse the deal and say 'Im not sigining for LFC because i dont want to be second choice to sturridge'..... pin it on Pinnochio !

Every time he opens his mouth, he looks more like a dead man walking. I don't want him to go. I'm actually getting slightly worried they would get Klopp.

Reckon Sturridge will be itching for a move if he doesn't get the CL footy he has been 'promised' ;)

hahaha this is a great post. Over the last 5 years they are the 4th highest spenders in the Premier League yet they think finishing 4th will be somehow defying the odds. This is what separates them from the rest. Any other fan would expect a top 4 finish every season and if not they would be asking questions of the management. They always look for a reason or an excuse to be able to blame anyone else bar the people at the club. If their wage bill goes up next season and they're amongst the top 4 wage payers then they'll move onto another reason or excuse for their failure.

Thanks fella.

Yes what becomes apparent is they would find some other way of manipulating data to show everything is actually going well and they are overachieving and that it's all very unfair on them. I suspect they'd compare ground sizes, or compare top earners salary, or compare the amount of players earning over 100k per week etc. They'd find something.

It wouldn't even have to be accurate as none of them take the time to check the facts. They were going on about not being able to afford 60 million plus players (only 1 player in the history of football has ever been bought for over 60 million). They then stated the examples of Ozil and Sanchez as examples of how they can't compete under FSG. Ozil was 2 million more than they paid for Andy Carroll, while Sanchez was 7 million cheaper than what they paid! Sanchez was only 7-8 million pounds more expensive than Lovren and Lallana.

I don't even begrudge them spending the money. I am not jealous, you spend what you spend. What does my head in though, is the way they are trying to portray themselves as plucky little Liverpool operating on magic beans and fans spirit to get them by. The idea they are re-writing football by using a different "model" and they should be applauded for it. The fact they misquote, falsify, simplify, exaggerate and outright lie on figures is an aggravating factor.

A lot of my posts on here are for the kopite lurkers or RAWK watches. They have not got a distinctive plan. Their plan is the same as everyone else's. You try to buy the best players that you can with the money you have available. They do it very badly and then try to cover for it by saying they've got some long game in mind. It's all starting to crumble though!

I agree. Coutinho has moments of brilliance but goes AWOL for large parts of games. I am not sure if that is because of the player, the fact that he is in an average team, or because of the way Brenda asks him to play.

I think there's a bit of everything in there really mate. He is being increasingly asked to carry Liverpool. The way Rodgers sets up has also minimised is influence too much (by making Sterling and Gerrard too central). However he is much like Anders Limpar used to be for us, he would be inconsistent. If he was consistent, lets be honest he'd be playing for one of the big clubs, not for also rans like Liverpool.

Well they scraped past Swansea at home, we lost to Swansea away (we'd have beaten Swansea had we been at home as well). They are not in the top 7/8 currently, or weren't when Liverpool played them. You are right about Palace though which slipped my mind. We beat would have beaten Palace away though (and did the previous week if memory serves me correctly).

If we'd have had their easy run, we'd have got to the cup final, no two ways about it. If they'd have had our run, they'd have bottled it like us and been knocked out in the 3rd round in both competitions (like they did in Europe).
