5 that's a bit weird things

....suspect it's got a lot to do with being a poor country. Kids have little else to do but play footy and by doing so hone their skills. Add to this that they will be 'from the streets' with an attitude and desire to win and you have a recipe for success.

I read in a book "inverting the pyramid" that one suggestion to this question was that in the favelas in brazil some kids only have tiny courtyards in which to play football in, sometimes up to 30 at a time playing.

Over time these kids develop the need to keep the ball at their feet in order to not lose it, whereas in England we have vast fields in cities where kids tend to have more time on the ball so don't develop ball control as quicker as Brazilian kids.

.....not sure about vast fields in cities, though. I was brought up in Everton and we played footy against a warehouse door until it went dark and then we moved underneath a street light.
